Oh my god who is this Audiopilz guy and why does he make me so violently uncomfortable????

I don't know where else to talk about this, but I just want to confide in someone! I don't know if its his pop-eyes, TV glasses or computer-phonetic pronunciation and infomercial intonation, but the whole package leaves me unsettled. like it's AI powered or something....

I don't hate the guy, I managed to ignore the weird vibes long enough to watch his take on the Shaman ER-1 firmware, but DANG man....

I...I just want to talk about it :(

okay, I actually super dig his view points and his shit-talking on Pocket Operator vids ("why do they attract trash like plastic cacti and small toys?") so now I feel bad, but he still weirds me out a little.

I don't mind his content but I think "content" is ultimately the best description of what it is. This guy has absolutely thought through exactly what goes into being a "content creator" on YouTube and then made sure to check all the necessary boxes. Still some entertaining videos.

Hah, never seen his channel before, but had to check it out now, and have to admit that I kind of like his schtik. He doesn't harp on about what he had for breakfast and this and that, gets to the point, and clearly knows what he's doing, in my opinion.

Pretty much every video- they're really carefully constructed. He picks weird/terrible gear and then finds things they're good for, it's refreshing and fun. I don't know if he's leaning into the outrageous accent and nerd persona, but it's nicely on-brand.

I liked it. Yes, it's very "contenty" and all those fast cuts can be a bit dizzying, but he's funny, knows his stuff, and for a channel focusing on "bad gear" there are some well balanced appraisals.

Most of his YT videos are < 10 minutes though

I've watched quite a few of his videos.

I'm a fan.

a) He obviously really does know what he's doing. You can tell from his jams, the way that he demonstrates the gear and can relate to different styles.

b) His accent doesn't bother me. But I've spent lots of time with various west germanic language speakers, so ... he kind of just sounds austrian to me.

c) He doesn't waste time and bandwidth. He has a point. He gets to it. Done.

d) He's the anti-snob. Gear + time = music.

Is there good gear and bad gear? Sure. But what he's really doing is puncturing a lot of adolescent ego bubbles, and I can't help but love that.

The only youtube synth video content which has ever truly scarred me deeply is.. shudder... 'Doctor Mix'. Feel bad hating on anyone and honestly I know that this sort of reaction is just due to an extreme clash in aesthetic preferences + style and editing, but those videos cause me physical pain
