what to do with tubes we can't use
what to do with tubes we can't use
I put a thread on the Buy/Sell section to see if there is any interest in buying some assorted tubes I won't be using in products. There are several similar boxes of various types in storage.
Any opinions?

Tubes
Just my usual bad ideas,
-Expensive, but awesome Christmas tree lights, with the occasional Nixe blinking the asterisk symbol.
-Pentode ladder filter??
But an even stupider idea I need to investigate, small tactile exciter mounted on a card with a mildly microphonic pentode or two. Hold it short of feedback, but should generate harmonic content....

Never used any subminis before. They have their problems. People are always looking for something to bitch about.luchog wrote:Any of them in use in discontinued R-series products?
You would not wanna go down that road.....dekatrons need at least 4 driver tubes and a +450v power supply. And they suck horribly as counters. Everything causes them to lose their place-magnets, noise, thunderstorms, etc. etc. Plus they are getting scarce and costly.I'm holding out for a dekatron-based 12-step trigger/cv sequencer to go with the D-2000.
You can modify one of these cheap kits to do that. Good luck!

It is a POS radio. Worthless, until you put a whip antenna and drawer handle on it--then it's the "GILLIGAN RADIO". And idiots will pay hundreds for it. Heh.

This is what I love about this place. "That's a really stupid idea. Here's how you can do it."metasonix wrote:You would not wanna go down that road.....dekatrons need at least 4 driver tubes and a +450v power supply. And they suck horribly as counters.
