Part 2:
It doesn't look like the rack ears are removable, which is a shame. But hopefully that's because it's still a prototype.

Re: Behringer 2600
I like the form factor... looks like a solid metal case too... same quality level as the 340... AMsynths lends a level of credibility to the 'actual' sound quality.
Is it a real spring verb?
Interesting to see what the actual price will turn out to be... could be anything from 500 to 1500?

Re: Behringer 2600
This is one of their best panels, I think. Excepting the kludgy 1/4" jacks, but its a prototpye. I've never understand anyone's love of lighted sliders--they seem quite cheap to the touch to me--but every pot on every one of the Behringer synths has been a disappointment to me, so this will be no better or worse. I think the omission of speakers was smart. Makes some sense on a full version, but mini speakers pushing air for analog synths makes me sad. What are they, 7U? I like the rack ears, too. DIY cabinet for vintage vibes, or rack it up. Sucks a little if you are a desktop guy, but someone will make side panels for it. The sound doesn't need to be spot on for this to be cool. The interface makes it inviting. Seems like a nice product.
This was my shot at being positive so I don't feel bad for ridiculing their Moog and Roland modules.
Still not cancelling my Korg preorder.

Re: Behringer 2600
No problems with the sound, although whether it sounds good, or like a 2600 will be forever debated...
wondering why they dont put all waveforms on all 3 oscs, rather than beef up OSC3 but not 1?
No analogue reverb is part of the sound though, and that's where I think it fails a bit in copying the original.

Re: Behringer 2600
It sounds like an ARP...Never had an ARP2600 but the sound reminds me a lot of the Odyssey when the 4072 is switched in.
I also like the 4012 VCF, although it does not sound like a Minimoog (good), but it sounds like its own thing.
Killer panel...seriously, one of the best looking synths this year for my tastes.
The sound is big and "vintage-y", reverb sounds digital and is also out of phase which I think is the same on the Karp2600 as well.
VCO drift sounds rather nice, bottom end from my HR824s filled the room...so a modern analog mono with the functionality of the ARP2600 that has the character. If this is around 600€, I am getting one.
They've gone from cheap knock offs to some very promising pieces of gear. If the build quality on this is anything like the Klark Teknik stuff, this is a home run.
What a time to be into (analog) synths!

Re: Behringer 2600
It seems weird that Keeble gets involved to increase the quantity of his own designs that he can manufacture at once, only to develop a 2600 that makes his modules less desirable. Maybe he and Behringer are planning 2500 modules instead?
The form factor kind of sucks. You can really rack mount it because of all the jacks on the top back, so it's one of these open frames that hog lots of desk space. Some one will come up with custom stands I bet.
Shame too about the sliders, as I've always found the lighted ones a bit sharp edged for comfort.

Will this fit in a 19" rack? Looks like 10U or so?

Re: Behringer 2600
Looks like the case is tapered for desktop use.
I really like this one. Nice to see that you can dim the LEDs. The jacks looked like minis to me. Say what you will about Behringer...name aside, this looks like a home run to me.
Start saving pennies for the Superbooth release.

The only jacks on the back are midi, power, and two footswitches. Seem like common things to be tucked in the back of a rack, and there appears to be plenty of clearance for them, too.TheDegenerateElite wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 9:36 amThe form factor kind of sucks. Is it another 3340 based vco job (are all their "reissues)? Sounds a bit like a 101 to me

Re: Behringer 2600
I built a full size 2600 clone and 3620 keyboard a few years back with 3 FULL VCOs and Sync on 1 & 2, with deliciously noisy LM301's throuout (none of that clean audio path for me). Sadly, unlike AMS, Behringer never got back to me when I applied to help out with future projects.
But hey ho... at least I won't be spending £3.5K on a KARP.

Yeah.. the Korg version is awesome, everything I wanted in a re-release.
This Behringer version looks like a child’s toy by comparison. No speakers, no keyboard, ugly faceplate. Basically what you’d expect. Korg will probably sell every ARP they make!!

Re: Behringer 2600
Are you serious? Nothing makes a synth look more like a toy than built in speakers ....
I actually like Behringer´s faceplate more, like a modern version of a classic. Probably will have more new features too.

Re: Behringer 2600
Not all of us want to cosplay 70s prog rock.
I'm really excited about the design decisions they made for this. It went from, "I'm not getting either one of these' to this actually being a viable alternative to the odessy. Who cares about a built in speaker?! That's one of the goofiest/most useless things about the OG. I have my own spring reverb, so I'm not particularly worried about that part. Anyway, I love the idea of having this as a knobby/slidery rackmount synth. It would be awesome if they made their poly clones in that form factor.

Re: Behringer 2600
Well that’s great too! Actually I do see how the behringer version will fit better into some studios. It’s smaller after all.coolshirtdotjpg wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 12:59 pmNot all of us want to cosplay 70s prog rock.

I do love how the Korg just went all in to make a really close to 100% OG version with the same form factor. The rack mount version is not as appealing to me. Funny how parts of the forum just loves the behringer, and other hate it, but I just think everything they make looks cheap and tacky. Call it cosplay if you want, but I like nice looking hardware!
Look forward to the side by side death match of these on YouTube.
