The Antimatter Brain Seed records a sequence of discreet voltages as a step sequence, not, as far as I understand a continuous stream of DC. It's seems it's been decided but I think it's a shame this module won't have this capability since it would be a big plus point. It would double its functionality. How much more would it be to add it?
Ah, sorry man. You must be right. I didn't mean to diss your proposition, more like trying to go with this module's flow. I agree it would be more functional if it implemented the DC recording, so why not take a lesson from Doepfer and getting two versions out mr.soundmachines? If it is indeed cheap it would work out, don't you think?

I have something in my head, it is not orthodox....
Let me see what we can do with that... :tu:

Modcan just released a CV recorder (non step) that also does audio. Monsieur soundmachines the way I see it is if you keep the price range low, you're going to have a killer module out. I have three of them on my rack planner.

This looks rad, I'm glad you're sticking with 4HP.
Some intelli's you can tell are designed for super slim but for whatever reason have fattened out, it seems like such a waste. If it fits I'm all 4 it

It happens because people complain that their fat fingers don't fit. It does happen that fatter modules are easier to handle, but it's not always the case. Depends on ergonomy.

For the most part I'm happy to have density, and manage fine with my fat fingers. :hihi:

I have fat fingers, I suck on piano keyboards, but have no issues with controlling my 4hp modules... ADSRJR and Dixies both. So yeah stick with 4hp!

My big problem is stuff like jacks in the middle of modules that get in the way of accessing the knobs when patched. If I've got my Anti-Oscillator fully patched, it's crazy hard to try and adjust them.

How small can a recorder sound be? Can it go grain size level?

Ok, a quick update after some weeks of 'silence'.
Things are rolling, this module is not yet finished, but we have other FOUR in the works. Actually the first (RB1 robotto) is waiting for the e-commerce stuff to be completed and go out for sale!
RC1 radiostar is in proto form, with the first firmware due for January (that is the most complicated stuff we are making up to now!)
We have two new entries, the first of wihich is under prototyping right now:
LS1lightstrip and LP1lightplane, two very interesting CV sources thought for your skiff (but not only...).

Excellent! I'd love a couple of these in my rack if the price is right.

Tune.... is the CV in v/oct?

But we're still on about the loop module right? It's the one I've been waiting for the most. Oh do tell, how small can the sampling time go?

uLOOP is obviously there to stay!!
I didn't make measurements but i think that it will be difficult to go under 150/200ms... I dunno if we are still in the realm of 'granular' stuff tho'...
This limitations arises from the chip used (that could possibly set the module price low) so it's a kind of double bound.....
I expect to have some tests done not before the end of December....
The idea of a small cheap sampler 'core' is compelling and could be further developed, maybe switching to a full microcontroller based solution (and then, no problems about minimum sampling times etc..) in a next module!
Regards!

Nah, do keep it simple and cheap. Let's not forget the target was to get more than one!

I was thinking of this project and the whole "cheap loop module" prospect and here's my 2 cents:

I'd keep it 4HP, it makes more sense if it is cheap enough to buy more than one. I'd lose the DC coupled option if it meant a lower price, as I said before there's a beautiful module by antimatteraudio coming out to do just that. I'd want it to have gate inputs on Rec/Play/Loop. Maybe a CV over lenght?

In any case keep it simple, cheap, useful.
plus one! a small, inexpensive audio recorder is such a cool thing! For CVs, we have plenty of great and full featured stuff.

And Paranormal, let me tell you, everytime I see your profile pic, I love these rocks a bit more
