Khanate
Old Man Gloom
SUMAC
If you're into Neurosis-type stuff, Cult Of Luna

+1 for Kowloon Walled City and Boris (though Boris is more hard/stoner rock, they can get pretty doomy at times)

Äänipää (not really metal — it's more or less a collab between Khanate/Sunn and Pan Sonic)

Saw these guys a couple years ago, it was awesome, not sure if they still play though.

Ufomammut are good for vaguely psych-y doom.

YOB have already been mentioned but i saw them a couple of nights ago and can't recommend enough. great songs.

I really enjoy Kvelertak, they are more like blackened rock 'n' roll but great if you like that sort of thing.

Is YOB playing anything new on their current tour? Would love to hear another album from them.

Some great stuff already mentioned above, here are my recommendations:

Oranssi Pazuzu
Dark Buddha Rising
Atomikylä
Volahn (latest album "Aq'Ab'Al")
Urfaust
Aluk Todolo (especially "Occult Rock" album)
YOB (most material, my favourites are "The Unreal Never Lived" and "Atma")
Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth
Spektr (for some interesting industrial/BM/ambient crossover)
Krallice
Yellow Eyes
Gorguts
Wormlust ("The Feral Wisdom" album)
Jute Gyte (awesome, wild 24TET insanity)
Ævangelist ("Enthrall To The Void Of Bliss" album)
Howls Of Ebb
Blut Aus Nord ("MORT" album for some great microtonal stuff)
The Great Old Ones
Reverorum Ib Malacht (excellent ambient work, recent releases can hardly be called "metal" anymore, but still needs to be included in my list)

Excellent list to work through. I've checked the first two so far and liking both a lot. Thanks.

The new opeth isn't the most extreme metal anymore but it's good. Just saw them in chicago

I'll throw Blood Incantation in the mix. Death metal with just enough cosmic/spacey stuff to keep it fresh but retain True American Black Metal status (joking!).

Caught them a little while back and the singer had some genuinely funny stage banter moments which is always appreciated.

This is older now but fans of YOB might also check out Zoroaster's Matador album.

I've been enjoying Dødheimsgard's latest album. Delightfully bonkers.

Ulcerate if you're into the kinda chaotic stuff. They have a new album out.

Dead Congregation. Gorguts. Weakling. Krallice. Thrones. Om. The Body.

I don't listen to much metal anymore, but I still love those bands.
