Spun this album the other day for the first time in years, forgot how punishing it is for just guitar and drums. Vocals on Prowler are prob. top 10 metal/grind/whatever for me.

i think, i just hate mattin... yeah, he blew up too quick, i'm guessing, but even the thing with junko is pretty stupid imho
it doesn't help that proletarian of noise has the worst cover {?} in history. yeah, the guitar prodigy is just in for dollar :( nope.
conceptual art yo.
Re: What are you listening to now?
maybe Relapse re-issuing those Merzbow records will give noise in general (& drone & less beat-driven avant-garde stuff) a lil popularity boost? either that or a sign that it's all becoming "classic" and not as directly relevant?
Re: What are you listening to now?
i probably go for the latter, fwiw. i remember rrron going on, on "the true sound of love" and he had released a new tape recently (i haven't heard it) but... it's one fucking tape, it's either a "classic" or irrelevant.

Music for the discerning punk rocker.

Imagine being in an underground psychedelic club in the 70s.

The Chameleons - What does anything mean basically.

Cabaret Voltaire

My favourite Cave LP

Flesh for Lulu...so well crafted.

Bit more goth..because

More AMT

Will on Bass makes this record better.

Sweet sarcastic voice.

Great collaboration.

Robyn Hitchcock.

No vocals...just full-on SPACEROCK.

Watched this band at a small club.
Was close enough to change the settings on his pedals.
All you Blues Rockers into the 70s stuff will know of Tony McPhee and The Groundhogs.

Re: What are you listening to now?
this release and the newer one by sam artist really grabbed me by the ears. there's some other good stuff on the label. experimental, abstract, digital, sound art, off kilter beats etc.

New Flaming Lips, American Head. Much more subdued than other recent albums, but still lots of synth.

Re: What are you listening to now?
Lately, I've discovered Stockhausen's "Licht" (Light) cycle, consisting of seven sprawling "operas" each based on one day of the week. He spent the last 30 years of his life composing it and nothing else. They are only operas in the loosest sense of the word. I think of them more as multimedia happenings. Tonight I'm listening to "Jahreslauf" which is the first act of the opera "Dienstag aus licht" (Tuesday from Light). It is basically an hour-long gagaku piece with a lot of strange stuff thrown in. I've always suspected that Stockhausen was just pranking us all, but I'm starting to come around.

I didn't know that you were a Stockhausen fan, Moog$Fool$. Maybe next time we get together, we can hum a few bars of "Gesang der Junglinge" eh?Moog$FooL$ wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 11:35 amwild!! never thought i'd see the day. strange year for sure.

Re: What are you listening to now?
I just heard a rather lame collaboration between Robert Smith and the Gorillaz on the radio. Sounded very The Glove inspired.
I criticize by creation and by finding fault

It'd be exactly where I'm at"

Re: What are you listening to now?
Even if it is the original 'lo-fi' version from 1995 you soon become acclimatised and then you're off in Jungle wonderland.

I may have to treat myself to the remastered release.
