This is what I'm spinning right now on my turntable. Do any of you young punks know what this is?

I certainly do, though I hadn’t seen that version of the cover. Knew it instantly when I read the hint-a longtime favorite. My copy was signed by the guitarist back in the 70s. Which means I’m not a young punk, so will declare myself ineligible and let someone else have a shot at it.

Does holding up an alternate cover make you the Great Deceiver?
Is it finished?

That is a great list! I love Legowelts addition to it - Pancakes with mist. A really great album that I've listen to a lot last two weeks.

Yeah it's awesome, it's been my work soundtrack, and I don't normally listen to music while I work. But new times I guess.

That is not an "alternate cover" -- it is the inside cover. I Lament your ignorance. You have Fracture-d my faith in humanity.

It was Starless and Bible Black (I'm listening to it again today)... Probably my actual favourite King Crimson album (although I've got Larks' Tongues in Aspic as my avatar). Most of this album was actually taken from live recordings from a single concert at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and some overdubs and things were added to fix up the tracks. This wasn't widely known until much later -- all audience noise was removed or avoided -- most people thought it was just another studio album. Here's the entire album from YouTube:

The original unmodified performances from that concert can be heard on the 1997 King Crimson release "The Night Watch."

Today, I thought I'd spin what is probably the greatest guitar record of all time (seen here in its original black cover, self-published, with no record company involvement at all):
IOU.jpg
This album, more than any other, led me to abandon any hope of ever being a serious guitar player and focus on boring stuff (engineering, etc).

Lots of greatest guitar players out there... it kind of depends on how you measure things.

I like listening to friends of the family.

John Campbell was a fucking fantastic guitar player...

Cued up for a guitar lesson...

The following is one (if not the) last performance before he died...

Another friend... now in New Orleans... Erich Avinger is a brilliant guitarist.

Another friend... moved to Taos, dammit.

And another who has gone to that big guitar in the sky...

Give me guitar with feeling anytime... another Houston artist...

The mic starts out hot, but once the tune starts... mmm, nice.

Care for a cup of tea?

And, a second cup?... with great visuals...

More Tuareg music...

After traveling a bit further west...

Very nice stuff there, mrcharles -- I really enjoyed that last one from Oum -- seems like an antidote for all the world's problems.

Becoming Animal - A Distant Hand Lifted. Came across them when listening to Abul Mogard's And We Are Passing Through Silently on the track The Sky Is Ever Falling. Ethereal vocals, utterly mesmerizing.

A few more antidotes in case that one doesn't last...

This next one is gorgeous... it's not the full song (it is a clip from a film)... but I include for the sheer beauty of the visuals...

Howling Terror, why don't your images ever show up on Firefox? What are you doing differently to everyone else?
