Prototyping with Max/MSP

Post by witchbutter » Sun Jan 07, 2018 11:11 pm

I've seen the Rebel Tech Owl, so I am curious if more devices out there exist to prototype based on Max/MSP. I'm really interested in designing a digital oscillator that I can do some development with Max/MSP first. Suggestions? Why is Owl 20 HP?

There aren't any other modules like the Owl that you can run Max on.

The closest thing might be the Qu-Bit Nebulae which can run PD patches. They have information and a PD template on their site.

Another option would be to use a laptop for the Max part in tandem with an Expert Sleeper's ES8 (or ES3/6 if you have an audio interface with adat handy) to get audio and CV in and out of Max. There'd be some latency obviously but for prototyping purposes I imagine this shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Owl seems billed like FX only, is there reason to think it can't be used as an oscillator?

I don't have one, but there are quite a few oscillator patches in the library
