One-of-a-kind modules

Post by 555x555 » Thu Jun 23, 2016 12:05 pm

Thinking about this thread, I was wondering what people think some really unique module designs are? Things that don't easily fall into the standard VCOs, filters, sequencers, LFOs, envelopes, and effects that have been around for 20+ years.

To start with, maybe:
BI-N-TIC
FM Aid
Wogglebug
Tromsø

Haven't used these but they sure look interesting!

Also, the eurorack modules from Mannequins (especially Cold Mac and Just Friends) are interesting implementations of existing ideas and functions, with a very fresh perspective.

I think the WMD PDO belongs in this list, still nothing else quite like it.
Phonogene deserves a mention.
Mikrophony and the upcoming modules from Modular Thing that incorporate a tape head and an a guitar pickup.

This is the most useful module I've built - 4 in 4 out mixer with uni/bipolar switching. It helps keep modulation sources/destinations under control

Bastl modules which bring the world of modular to bear on physical objects with interfaces for solenoids and motors. That is pretty impressive to me. And unique as far as I know.

Does this count as a single module? :despair: If so it gets my vote.
