OSX, Batch renaming of samples: any tools ? simple ?

Post by Funky40 » Fri Mar 16, 2018 11:40 am

OSX in my case

I need a Tool to edit the names of a bunch of samples in a batch.
example: "sample_11_ct9_e1
in this case would i have to turn "ct9" to "ct11" on all samples, if possible just by editing one sample or a dialog box.

if there are many options: i need something simple.
i was for example never able to batchconvert anything with wavelab
( have wavelab elements now )
For sale / reduced prices ( swiss (we are NON-EU)/ in case it makes sense_ EU/WW)(CHF +- = $):
lowered prices: Dotcom Q960: 650.- / Q119: 420 / ( i also have one or much likely two 19" Frames)
ATV A-Frame incl. Accu and Bag: 830.-, like new, quasi unused.

I think you already have a tool that can do it.
Automator, which is built into Mac OSX, has a batch replace text in a filename function.
It's free so worth trying anyway :)

You can do a simple string replace with finder. Select multiple files, rename and then select replace text in the menu.

This is what I use to shorten file names down to 16 characters for my MPC. Easy and lots of useful options on which part of the file name it acts on and how to change it.

I use Name Mangler. Does everything I can think of to file names, sequential numbering, Find and replace, insertion, even more (over 10 things in the pull downs) and advanced scripting for complicated things where you want to make formulas.

You can also use the command line Terminal to do this. It's a bit more involved than Finder or Automator though.
