Heres a quick Polygamist Jam, I'm using the Midi out from the ribbon to trigger a drum bank on an MB6582 SID. Still loving the Polygamist, great synth.

Certainly looks like a cool synth. I tried to get a hold of one a while back when I was on the cusp of getting into Eurorack, but was too late. As great as it seems, I'm kinda glad it didn't happen and I went fully modular instead - it has opened a world up to me. I think I will be forever dissatisfied with "semi-modulars" now. I dunno, maybe I'm wrong about that too - maybe something like the Knas is the perfect combo of complete instrument and modular experience ... we live in great times for choice of electronic instruments I guess.

Yeah I also liked that the polygamist looked like compact piece of equipment that could be used independently. Still maybe Knas will produce something similar in the future.

meng qi has a great controller I helped inspire with two ribbons and a bunch of extra controls that turns the plumbutter&CQ combo into an awesome ribbon synth

I think something like a Buchla Music Easel has the same sort of ethos as a Polygamist but unfortunately not the same price tag.

yes, definitely. I don't have an Easel but I did have a 208. I also have a Synthi and that gives me the same vibe as the Polygamist. In fact the Polygamist is working really well with the Synthi. My favourite instruments by far at the moment. I find the Polygamist to be one of the most inspiring synths I've played with.

A Synthi and Polygamist recording that I posted in the Buchla/EMS forum.

Liking the sounds. Can see that a Synthi would get you in the same territory but again a higher price tag and as far as I am aware not easy to come by.

Polygamist sounds rad! How much do these things go for now that they're medium rare?

I'm loving all of this recent Polygamist love!

Here is a something I slapped together tonight.

Unpatched and unsequenced, just twiddling the knobs looking for the sweet and sour.

I asked him about it a month ago. Didn't seem terribly interested in doing so due to the complexity.

Wow, I really enjoyed that video Smokey! I liked seeing for technique, I saw some similarities with what I do when I am jamming.
The Polygamist just calls to me when I walk into my music room, which is where I am going after another cup of coffee.

On that last piece that I linked to in this thread, I did a little patching on the Polygamist, S & H, some different modulation for the filter. Not much though, I have 5 or 6 3.5mm patch cords because most of my modular is banana jacks.

I am going to start to work on interfacing the Polygamist with the mighty Serge. Maybe have it send some midi from my Tempest to the Serge and a little modulation back and forth. I think my format jumbler can deal with 12 signals, so obviously the amount of patch cords is the bottle neck for now.

Thanks deltapheonix! I had a great time making it! The videos are useful to me to remember how I made certain sounds. I hope you had a fun, caffeinated time with your Polygamist!

I added another video above. this time I got my wife to play along! She doesn't really know what she is doing but had fun just getting silly with it.

Such a shame that this synth is discontinued, since the people who own it treat it with the reverence that is usually reserved for the Synthi or the Music Easel. However, I have immense respect for Karl for sticking to his ethos, making it as affordable as possible, building it ethically, and thinking about those of us who love synthesizers but don't have the bank account to pay the prices that some synths command! I just hope that someday in the future Karl finds a faster and less stressful manufacturing process, since I'd love to own a product like this that I believe in 100%, from the manufacturing, to the sounds it can create.
