Yeah, trigger pulled. Was looking for something just like this, have been for weeks now. I sold my mother 32 to get something a bit different, this will do nicely

Sold. This is what I'm talking about- innovation that manifests inspiration.

Re: Dreadbox - Typhon
Interested to hear more about this one, another cool thing not mentioned in this thread:
External audio input that can turn this box into the ultimate effects unit
I wonder how the control works, would be interested in reading the manual or seeing a video of going through the motions to create a patch with the menus and sliders.⅛ in Mono Audio In (for routing via Typhon FX)

This thing sounds great. I can't wait for next months release. I don't often buy things as soon as they're released, but for this I'll make an exception.

Not just the Typhon, but this does give some insight into it's use. With a Sonicstate review coming soon.

Re: Dreadbox - Typhon
Mixed bag of feelings about this thing
Controls seems to be very well chosen to not populate the panel and also keep it simple and usable. I like the form factor, portability and the fact that it have a display. With such few controls it would be really tedious to access double function stuff without visual feedback.
Reverb sounds really good, but I´m afraid it will become a strong selling point and then we will be flooded with videos drenched in reverb.
I never liked synths with so much emphasis on fx, and in this one it seems that fx are center stage.
The dry sound is OK but I dunno if another analog monosynth adds something to the actual scene.

Re: Dreadbox - Typhon
Are these actually available for preorder anywhere? Sweetwater indicates it but when you go to the page it says “notify me when in stock”.
I criticize by creation and by finding fault

Re: Dreadbox - Typhon
I like all the demos and have become a big Dreadbox fan, but I'll probably hold off on this since I already have an Erebus v3 and a Nyx v2, and how many analog monosynths from the same company does a man really need (blasphemy, I know). On the other hand, I sort of hope the analog voice structure makes its way into a poly; a dual-oscillator Abyss v2 would complete my Dreadbox collection nicely...

a replacement for Abyss is said to be coming by end of 2020.
Re: Dreadbox - Typhon
I'm still scarred for life after the Erebus V3 and it's damn auto-tuning routine that sounded like a dial-up modem played through a megaphone into a cave full of bees. Passing on this one but would be very interested in a new Abyss.

Re: Dreadbox - Typhon
I've literally never heard that on my v3 - but then I'm in the habit of turning things with analogue VCOs on a few minutes before I use them, and not, you know, amplifying the shit out of them at startup.

Re: Dreadbox - Typhon
I read the opposite on YT from a channel called Procknosis.
The page owner said that yannis was not interested in another poly.
But again this is all third party.

Re: Dreadbox - Typhon
That ProckGnosis guy seems to have some access to the company (he did a factory tour video once and has been covering them since the Murmux days), so I lean toward believing what that guy on the Internet said as opposed to what the other guy on the Internet said. Too bad; I'd start saving now if there was some confirmation a new Abyss was going happen.

Re: Dreadbox - Typhon
I don't really like the retrofuturistic 80s-logo, but the rest looks cool. The reduction of control could make it pretty interesting for live usage, especially nice to see single knobs for scaling the envelopes! The selection of waveform combinations seems ok to me, only a bit weird there are no two square waves and that the (harmonically rich) FMed square wave is located to the left of the triangle wave.
Sadly only effect amount can be modulated (except for reverb/delay time) and there's no sync, ringmod etc. - and the EG level knob could have been bipolar
