I ordered mine from Hieber Lindberg in Munich, Germany as this was the first shop I could order it from over here (on Jan 10, of course). Acccording to them I'm #6 of 10 units they will get and several already have been shipped. Mabye it will arrive in May or June, who knows. Keeping fingers crossed!
Love is the message.

Just checked my Sweetwater “Order History” and it says my 2600FS order has “Shipped”. No longer “Order Received”, which had been “Waiting for Items” before that. Not “Ready to Ship” but “Shipped”. No tracking number yet and my card hasn’t been charged. Hope that’s a good sign!

Rep says it was a “glitch” and that it wasn’t shipped or shipping. Order went back to “waiting for items.” Grrr.

Mine 2600 arrived today. What can I say? Marvelous!

First I thought something was wrong as it droned as soon the INITIAL FILTER FREQUENCY was turned up. Contacted my reseller but luckily I found out it was some settings at the VCA. Extremely happy man!

I think all is probably well, but I'm also new to the ARP 2600 so could easily be wrong.

On the initial gain, are you sure the right hand slider in the mixer (VCA) is not at zero? Try the exercise on page 60 of the owners manual to make sure you're not misunderstanding the function of the mixer (VCF and VCA, not left and right). If only the left slider (VCF) is above zero, Initial gain won't have any effect on whatever source is going through the VCF and VCA.

Also on the VCF, look at pages 56 and 57. In the absence of other control to the contrary, the VCF will allow frequencies below the cutoff to pass through (i.e. drone).

We have some folks on here who truly understand this beast - I think you (and indeed I) are just not used to the workflow yet!

Thank you Thispoison, it was related to the (miss-) understanding of the mixer section and that I sent VCF to MIXER instead of VCA to MIXER.

Don't worry, you're keeping good company -- Joe Zawinul reportedly got in touch with Roger Powell after he had acquired the 2600, saying 'the sound is fantastic but how do I make it stop?'

Sounds like you got caught in the same thing as Joe Zawinul, who famously asked ARP, "How do I turn it off?" because the initial gain slider of the VCA was not fully to the left. Not a bad person to have something in common with! RIP.

Congrats on your new 2600FS.

Hehe, something common with Joe Zawinul at least 😉.

One good thing: I contacted my reseller, Thomann.de and they said they will get a new batch ARP 2600 FS at the beginning of June (we talked about to replace my 2600 before I found out what was going on) - so I guess it’s a second chance to achieve an ARP 2600 FS if one missed the first chance.

I didn't think I would be able to get one, but one shipped into my local small town music store yesterday and no one had reserved it. So, I made a decision to jump on it.

I am glad I did. Lovely thing and sounds and plays great.

OK, I just canceled my order with Sam Ash that I've had on the books since January 22, so they may have a slot open up if anyone's interested.

Just checked in with Syntaur for a shipping update and it's more of the same delays. They've been great with communication, but supply is obviously the issue. I'm beginning to lose faith in receiving a unit anytime soon as Korg is heavily delayed right now.

Switched On appears to have a 2600 in stock possibly. No mention of the pre-order. Might be a chance for someone to snag one.

Well..in case it helps any more UK cats understand where they are : just took a call from Korg - they're bypassing the dealer ( Kennys Music ) & shipping my 2600 straight to me - tomorrow.

sounds like there aren't many more about to ship or any more expected in the UK though now. He did say they ( Korg UK ) & all the dealers are pleading with Korg to make more... but he just doesn't know.

I never thought about it that way.....

Mine is serial number 380, so March 1980 - Daniel Miller was working on the Silicon Teens at the time, also working with both DAF and Fad Gadget.

For sure Daniel Miller and the Mute bands are the main reason I spent a lifetime longing for an ARP 2600 (and I've just seen his full name for the first time - my Grandfather's first name was Otto!).

It all fits together! :guinness:

775th piece? Was not it supposed to stop at 500? I am confused.
