The rep mentioned that korg sourced all original parts to make them, no smt.
When I was reviewing it, Korg themselves told me that it was a mix of SMT and through-hole, so either Korg gave me the wrong info, or Sweetwater gave you the wrong info. I'm gonna guess that Korg would likely have advertised it as all through-hole parts if they had chosen that route.

Granted, I had a prototype (and I was asking about the production units for the review), but that was only a little over a month ago, so I doubt that they could change the production in such a significant way between then and February's deliveries. :hmm:

Ordered from Guitar Center yesterday morning. Sales rep said they were about halfway thru their presale, which was 45.

I had called Sweetwater first but was told they sold out in the first hour. The rep wouldnt tell me how many they had, but mentioned they had the hightest quantity from korg. The rep mentioned that korg sourced all original parts to make them, no smt. This was the first I had heard about that information, I would have thought it would have been mentioned more clearly in the promo videos but maybe I missed that.
Interesting! Though ideally I'd like to hear this coming direct from Korg.

Its impossible this synth is full TH,and if its full TH one should have bought all available and put them back for sale at 6k each

What you pay for now is for a lot of handwork assembly and materials of the (beautiful) casing and finish.

The world is really full of Nostradumbasses...

And an overabundance of Ignoranuses.
Thing is, I had a 2600, so I eventually know about it, waiting for my new one and not spending my day making stupid assumptions ...

Got mine on order from GC, and the last I talked to them, they're still taking pre-orders. If that's true, they would be about the only ones that still are.
The rumour mill says Sweetwater got 100, GC got 90, Musician's Friend "somewhere in that neighborhood" and the rest sprinkled over the smaller dealers. I've heard the US allocation is 400 pieces, but since all of this is rumour, it could all be BS. Also, I heard that the ship date start is 2/22/20 (at least from GC).

Super excited, almost emotional. I’ve been wanting one for years, but couldn’t afford an original and missed the TTSH.

When I ordered mine from DLX Music here in Finland they said that the whole Scandinavia got only 25. :-O

The delivery estimate is end of April, I do hope it arrives sooner.

i heard it first hand from Korg rep at NAMM. 400 units allocated just to U.S., rest of North American and other territories got their own allotments. Also confirmed it may still be possible to get one from one or two US retailers...

Its not really a matter of "paying off lawyers" they release clones because its legal to do so at this point. Also, why refer to Behringer's product as a "clone" but not Korg's? If anything Behringer's Odyssey is less of a direct clone than Korg's version.
What makes copying it legal?

Has the copyright expired? No one owns it anymore? It's legal to make circuits based on copyrighted schematics?

Just noticed my credit card was charged on 10th Jan for the full amount for my 2600 preorder. Must be a good sign? :hyper:

Just an FYI even if Korg were to do another run the chances of getting in on that are probably slim to none. They have a list 400 people deep at Sweetwater for the opportunity to get one. Sweetwater has been trying to talk them into making more because they are missing out on a financial opportunity and they'd like their customers to be able to have one as well.
It's been a long time since someone wrote a really good book in jail.
