Minimoog Squirrelly Keys!

Post by mattjhuber » Wed Sep 25, 2019 11:07 am

Hey all! So I just replaced the key bushing on an old Minimoog, and after putting it all back together, many of the keys are jumping all over the place pitch-wise. Here is a video of the issue:

I checked the buss bar and the pitch bar, and I don't see any random erroneous contacts...but other than that, I'm a bit stumped. Any guidance / ideas would be tremendously helpful!

Thanks!

The guy who makes the opto key midi told me that just changing the bushings isn't enough, the design itself will eventually always have problems. I just lived with the squirrel in the machine...

J wires on the keyboard are dirty, I had that all the time back when I had a minimoog. The J wires get worn down and tend to tarnish and loose connection. Cleaning them will fix the issue for a while, but replacing them is the real fix.
