Yeah I'll definitely share some demos soon once I've got more acquainted with it, While I'm already very impressed with my results compared to the stuff I've achieved with FM on other synths in the past, I'm still very new to it and probably still just barely scratching the surface of what it can do.
Already looking forward to it. Enjoy your explorations. :cloud:

The individual outs is something I'm really enjoying, I have enough synths with inputs that I can have a different analog filter on each output which is a lot of fun to play around with!

Completely blown away by the textures you can get out of this thing, I've been able to easily hit the polyphony limit with great results that I guess would be difficult to achieve elsewhere (not often you hear of this much polyphony :hihi: )
If you have some multi timbral examples you could share? That would be much appreciated!

Will do some soon(ish)

My current wishlist for the Kodamo:

- Modulation/MIDI CC control of algorithm config/selection

- Ability to use feedback on OPs other than OP1

- Free running OP phase for modulation (or more LFOs)

- More filter modes (HPF, BPF coming next update)

- Quick way to reset values to default (Getting a slider back to 0 for example can be a pain)

Agreed to more filters (as I already posted on Kodamo.org's forum)!
Kodamo says, implementing filters is not easy as these need a good amount of processing power:
I'd really be fine, if half of all effects got slashed for that!!
(anyway, who needs that much FX's - as the EFM has multiple/routable outs...)

Yeah, it´s music free for download! Enjoy!!!

I wonder how the people who have one do experience working with it, especially ergonomics and haptic feeling?

It is a rack device but in most videos I have found it stands up tilted, somehow balancing on a keyboard or table.

To me it sounds great and I think I like the workflow with the display. I am just not sure if it would not feel a bit akward to sit in front of my 19" rack to program it.

Since I'am really short in space and it's lightweight, I put it on my knees and I'am really comfy !

Yeah, it would be insane to rack it which is why the new version will have those removable. I bought a laptop bed desk to use it in bed with my keystep. Now I'm a true bedroom producer!

Workflow is awesome of course. Sometimes there are FOUR ways to change a setting: screen, knob, dial, buttons.

Kodamo Essense FM MkII is now taking pre orders with a discount to Mk1 owners.

They also have the VFM37 and VFM61 keyboard versions on the main page listed as "Coming Soon".

I sort of wish they'd doubled down on support for early adopters instead of branching out more buuuut, the internals are said to be identical, so the same software will run on all versions. Similar to the Cirklon v1 and v2.

Just hope we don't see a split on support/features down the line on some future incarnation!

i'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff, but i don't think that having all those fx takes much processing power. it's the 2 that you use simultaneously that use the processing power.

boop boop. was about to order one from Schneiders, they're the only place i could find them in stock. but then was looking through Kodamo's site annnnnnd.... there's a Mark 2 version coming out.

has a louder output, but what makes it worth the wait till February (when they are to ship) for me is the rack ears are removable and there's an angle wedge one can screw on.

yes PLEASE.

I think musicstore has them in store too, but the angled sides and the removable ears really are a very nice improvement. Plus it is discounted quite a bit when you preorder now...

lol. nooooot saying no to a cheaper purchase.

but yeah. definitely worth the wait for the choice of rack ears.

i rarely rack stuff, usually put it on the desk or stand.

iffffff they get them ready and ship earlier, i am okayyyyy with that too.

I recently purchased it during a sale here in the US (perfect circuit) and am quite happy. The interface is stunning. It boots up lightning-fast, the touchscreen is fast and feels just right.

I don't know what they are going to change wrt the audio outputs, since they seem quite loud to me. Glad that they are supporting the platform. Their last update that I installed was quite large and even had a different UI color/configuration option.

EssenceFM V4.2 firmware
What is planned so far:

- High pass filter: the filter is now multimode (low pass/high pass) with the ability to crossfade between them. Crossfade also controllable via the modulation matrix.

- True mono mode at the layer level: the "Exclusion Group" feature can be configured to either soft-cut the notes (current default behavior, it triggers the release stage of the envelopes) or hard-cut (like a true monophonic synth)

- Sync'd Voice Sequencer. That's not about the MIDI sync which is already there, but the ability to keep each Voice Sequencer instance in sync with each other. Since they are independent and per-note based, syncing them all allows you to play chords and anything you want while keeping a clean sound. This feature will most likely be named "Common" to avoid confusion with MIDI Sync.

- Algorithm in the modulation matrix destinations. Using this will dynamically change the algorithm using the 32 included presets.

- Events in the Voice Sequencer can be moved using the main jog wheel

- Tuning override at the Patch level.

So happy to see they added free phase OPs to the list, that's a really big deal for me!

Anyone else have any ideas for things which could be done to further improve the FM engine? It's not currently lacking in any way really but I'd love to see their focus on the FM capabilities.

My only requests are to have different (fixed, low, med, high) level of randomization like on the PreenFM2. I like taking a nice patch and tweaking it ever so slightly in random, but controlled ways.

As for other FM parameters/control, I don't have any requests.

Wonder how the keys version will be priced.
I criticize by creation and by finding fault

The 2nd version surely is an improvement talking from the case. But AFAIK, there is not much new then this ( which is a lot though), less wobbly encoders and the louder output. Mentioning the last position, I honestly have no clue how they do it. But I would imagine it iwas not a big change by PCB design. Maybe just a minor swap of op's.
I'm not too sour having slightly milder outputs, as in nature of an FM synth I find it rather important to add more character. That will be done best with some nice amps/filters chaining up behind.
