That price point is unreal. This is going to be a big hit if they can keep it at that price.

I see what you did there.. I think it sounds really good. Oscs sounds kinda DCOish in a good way and filters seem really good. Price seems unbelievable. Maybe they can put an OLED on there as the display looks kinda dated.

I am really curious how they are going to implement the DCO versus VCO tuning control. This is actually something that I’ve been advocating for for a while, but I hope it’s not just a kind of reverse DSI-style slop control that is “on” for the VCO and “off” for the DCO

People will complain that that is too modern and kills the analog soul of the synth, or they don't want to be distracted by a fancy screen (while playing Jump) etc.

Just be thankful it has patch storage :deadbanana:

Ussually, I would not mention a word about the look of it, but after seeing the absolutely gorgeous UDO Super-6, I had to...this people rised the standard on synth aesthetics without having to enter the discussion of vintage vs modern look. It have both worlds combined in such a classy look that leaves a lot of synths just as awful, boring rectangular boxes with no soul or fun

Of course there´s fucking Axel Hartmann in charge of this beauty, a true genious and real artist of design, but c´mon, he can´t be the only people to ask for a nice looking synth!

I hope it has MPE. Should be standard for all synths made above one voice imo.

I wouldn't hold my breath. MFB is the 80's Volvo of synths - boxy but good.

Why? Only a small fraction of users would actually take advantage of this.

Just saw this is supposed to be out next month. The manual is up already--and a bit sparse, true to MFB tradition.

http://mfberlin.de/en/device/synthproe/

Specs:

* Eight-part analog desktop synthesizer
* Analogue VCOs, switchable to DCO operation
* Sawtooth <> Triangle <> Rectangle / Pulse <> Ringmodulator / Noise can be crossfaded
* Sync and FM in VCO mode
* 3 oscillators, each with sub-OSC
* Analog 24-dB low-pass filter
* Analog 12-dB multi-mode filter with low, high and band-pass characteristics
* 2 analog VCA
* 2 LFOs (sawtooth, rectangle, triangle, random), tempo-syncable, one-shot mode
*3 envelope generators: 2 x ADSR, 1 x ADS (R), each with loop function
* Effects section with reverb, echo, chorus and other effect types
* Fully storable

yeah, there is another poly on the horizon that I am really waiting for, but in the interim this looks kinda like an insta-buy.

The Manual wrote: Menu Voice Mode

This menu is the setting of the voice distribution. These are:

> Poly: In this mode, all voices are played back.
> Poly1 + 7: Divide 1 x mono and 7 polyphonic voices into 2 MIDI channels.
> Chord4 + 4: Here 4 voices (once as a chord) are distributed on two MIDI channels.
> Mono: In this mode, only one voice is played. The others are distributed to the following MIDI channels.
> Unison: In this mode, 1-8 voices are played monophonically.
> Rotate: In this mode, only one voice is played, but changes to the next after each keystroke.

ok, I withdraw what was said, actually the final version looks really nice!

I´d prefer metal sides, but it's just me...the whole look was improved significantly from the prototype one

Also, official specs and info

"The SYNTH PRO is the advanced, polyphonic version of the SYNTH II.

All oscillators are discretely structured. So here are for the sound base so no highly integrated chips are used, but proven components that even in Synthesizer 40 years ago produced a great analog sound.

If required, the VCOs can be switched over to the particularly stable DCO mode, for example if unfavorable environmental conditions have to be overcome.

The provided waveforms can be superimposed and additionally modulated by different sources. VCO2 and VCO3 can be synchronized to the first oscillator.

For this purpose, VCO1 and VCO2 can be frequency-modulated with VCO3. In the SYNTH PRO, two filters are used per voice, which can be connected in series or in parallel.

The low-pass filter works as a cascade filter with a slope of 24 dB / oct. and uses the popular SSI 2144. Multifilter and VCAs are based on OTA's. Both filters and the VCA's can be modulated by different sources.

The LFOs and envelopes are calculated per voice by fast processor.

There is also a dedicated chip for the effects section. This can produce not only reverb and echo but also chorus and flanging effects.

The built-in sequencer works polyphonically and is available in addition to a monophonic arpeggiator.

Very excited about this too. Though I will be keeping my Dom 1. I’m thinking of pairing this with a Hydrasynth. Pretty much every poly base covered. Wonder if it responds to poly AT. Would love to see a full keyboard version of this, though it would fit nicely right above my Dom 1 and look sweet too!

Can't see around the back of this... is it a mono output or stereo?

EDIT

Ah right! Just seen a show video and apparently it's a single stereo socket (requiring a split lead for most uses)... at least that was the case on that prototype.
