I wonder if it´s based on (or even inspired by) some previous synth design

Definitely takes font, panel design, and feature cues from the PolyKobol II. Guessing it's using the new CEM3340S and maybe the new SSM2040 reissues? Certainly hope we get more than this pic soon.

It looks more like a Polykobol, or at least I hope it is.

Roman had mentioned that he was working on a Kobol inspired synth. Looks nice!

I don´t know a lot about the polykobol, but the expander was in my wishlist for years, mainly for its sound

Are they similar in sound?

My CS50 sold me on polysynth’s with band pass rather low pass filters, so this looks pretty appetizing given how thoroughly programmable it seems. It’d be great if the envelope->filter parameters had inverting attenuators, I can’t tell from the panel.

Also nails the spartan Kobol look

There’s some vids on YouTube. Best sounding poly ever made imo

No,not at all,the polykobol has a very different sound because it use the weak sounding 2044 filter chip, sounds more like a polysix with two vco's.

RSF made also polyphonic Kobol's,the expanders with 4 cards into it.

Also another company did a version back then using the RSF voice cards and put 8 of them computer controlled full patch programmable (with physical patch cords but programmable)

This synth here is a Polyphonic Kobol replica, not a Polykobol replica.

That looks powerful. That entire Modulation section and the Velocity/Aftertouch knobs, leading straight into those LFOs. Damn.

Prologue designers: take note!
Prologue decriers: take note (no keyboard and more than double the cost of the 8 voice Prologue)!!!

Was there an announcement with pricing for this?

Per reddit:
$1500 down
$2250 when completed
$3750 total

(Might have been 1250+2500 but the total was 3750)

I guess the cat is out of the bag, I sold my kobol expander 1 to Roman a few months ago so he could make this polykobol inspired synth. I’m surprised it’s happened so quickly. It’s something like a polykobol except with a 2040 filter and Curtis oscillators (i think) I can’t wait and it makes me happy knowing that my beloved kobol went to a good cause!

The Sifam 'kobol' knobs are also available in 10 or 11mm diameter so Kobol style knobs are possible.

I will probably use them on mine.

That's the Deckard's Dream price. Not sure if this thing is going to be same, there's been no official info on it so far.

You're correct, I did not follow the guy's link and it was indeed for the DD.

I can't find any information yet on this one yet. I'd assume 8 voice, multiple LFO, boutique build... All same as the DD... Probably similar price tier although seems to be less expensive hardware since it's not going for the vintage look.

I had never even seen Deckards Dream before this thread. That's the one I want now!
