I am currently testing this box, and would like to share those Sound-files.
Of course you can be a lot more subtle with it ;
There is a lot of gain stages which interact each other, but i think it gives an idea of it's potential.

wow - they seem pretty (as in very) cool, but EXPENSIVE!

Yep, not cheap ! the product seems wonderfully built, levels lights are very useful because of multi stages.
There is a Mic pre (without 48v) which is quite good, Instrument input on front panel
(very practical for plugging guitar, bass, synths and boxes).
The EQ is very nice, very crunchy when you overload it, and very different from a VT747sp for example (which i like very much).
There is a little something of Metasonix in the filter (on the crying side).
Sound can be very very clean and subtle without any noise, or destructive with total signal annihilation and in this case... there will be blood.
There is two outputs for pseudo stereo, or high and low parts of the filter. very complete... and expensive, but very complete... but exp.... etc

It's my own opinion about it, so very subjective, but here it is:

've been using it for a few months, and I realize that it became my "go-to-box" for nearly everything... The hard "distortion" aspect of the product is a tiny part of it. Not to say anecdotic, in a sense.
The germanium preamp is gorgeous, and as warm and/or clean as it can overdrive. You can get absolutely velvety sounds with it (think nick drake's voice).
I would plug Wes Montgomery in it; as much as I can see Trent Reznor using it, honestly.
The Filter sounds to me, like triple-cream and jam on a fresh scone.
The Eq section is, for the lack of better words, "positively-suprisingly-unusally-pleasant" to use.
And the 2 independent distortion channels (which, once again don't have to be distorted) are available as individual outputs... which give quite a few options.

So yes it will cost you your soul. But add up what you get, and you realize that it's a fine investment. Well it was in my case.

And yes, forgot... For all the danceheadz:

Pass a Reese bass in the box:

Tiny amount of envelope triggering a mid resonant filter.
Spice that up around 70-90hz with the eq section.

Relax and just check the bodycount around the sound system.

I think she's a looker. I love the weird off kilter colored knobs.. and honestly for all it does and the quality of it, it doesn't seem waaay expensive to me.

I think UBK fatso is the same price, and so are a few other mic pre's. If it were just a distortion unit, yeah way too much. It seems this might be more in line with the thermionic culture rooster in terms of most main functions.
