DIY Touch Pad? Like the moog Voyager

Post by KSS » Fri Oct 30, 2020 2:42 pm

I remember bob Moog talking about mixing some slurry up when he was making his touch panels. Some kind of black goop. He was selling them for use with the Synton 3000 modular he was repping in the Big Briar era. Matrixsynth just rev'd up the old memory with a post of his 331 Touchpad.

Does anyone here know the technology behind this touchpad? Or that of the moog Voyager? I'm fairly certain Bob said they were the 'same'.

most likely carbon granules. 500micron granules are a good size to use. they need to be supsended in some flexible membrane, so they are allowed to touch and compress. im not sure exactly what would be best here, but silicone might not be a bad start. but, there are a lot of commercially available versions of this as full systems (FSRs and resistive touch screens), and as raw material (conductive rubber sheets or strings).
