Is there a compiled firmware file available somewhere? Source code is good and all, of course, but at the moment i would prefer to not have to install an entire IDE (with additional libraries) just to upload the firmware, at least not if avrdude could do the job.

Is there a substitute part that I could use?
I bought MCP4811-E/SN, and they do not work. Too big. Just so you don't make the same mistake.

the out of stock 4811e/ms is of msop8 size. The only next closest that i found is the 4911e/ms. The comparison of spec for both seem close, but not sure if its direct interchangeable though.

4911 lacks the internal voltage reference that the 4811 has and which is being used, so that wont work

Unfortunately, I must have mucked this up.

I had no trouble loading the firmware. When I connect the module to power the LEDs flash blue. But then only the first and third LEDs light, both steady red. I don't see that code in the manual.

The other symptom is that the board gets real hot underneath the electrolytics.

Sometimes when I power cycle I don't even see the blue LED flash.

Any suggestions?

So, of course the board gets hot under the voltage regulator. But what of the two red lights? Any one else have this experience?

This was a great build - very beginner friendly SMD module. Took about 2.5 hours, start to finish.

Goofy test setup - (sorry about the rotation - picture wouldn't upload when I tried to rotate.)

Very sparse SMD layout. Easy peasy.

Thanks again szabomate!

Any news from pre-build batch or a second batch of DIY kits, szabomate ?

Really want to try this with my 0-coast... Even if that means taking the soldering iron...

I was playing around with some teensy modules and noticed they have dedicated touch input pins (TeensyLC, Teensy3.2).

Maybe the next version could use a teensy instead of the chinese modules (mostly just frustrated waiting forever for that module to come from china).

1N5819 SOD-123

Post by consumer » Thu Feb 02, 2017 10:04 pm

I'm excited to build this, but the 1N5819 is out of stock at all of my usual US suppliers for months!

I tried looking for an SS14, but couldn't find one in the same form (SOD-123) with the same forward current specs.

Anyone know an acceptable substitute?

From mouser mcp4811e/ms is back in stock on mouser but 1n5819 is out of stock.

I ended up getting the 1n5819hw-f from rs component in my country, but its sold in pack of 25.

jumping in on this.

Didn't know components would be backordered - could someone chime in with substitutes? I don't want to wait months to build this.

I ordered 2 panel/pcb sets and they arrived early last week, so it's still currently available I think.
I just emailed using the website details, took a few days to respond, but all was very smooth. I Just needed to confirm address/shipping country, then I got a Paypal Invoice, paid it and the stuff arrived about a week later.

*** Updated- Was using arduino 1.0.6 when encountering the issues below. Upgrading it to arduino 1.8.2, everything was compiled and uploaded fine.

wondering if anyone can shed some light in compiling and uploading of the firmware. I encountered this,

switchPlates.ino: In function 'void switchPlates()':

switchPlates:82: error: 'PD6' was not declared in this scope
trigger_n_gate.ino: In function 'void doTriggerFunction(bool)':
trigger_n_gate:4: error: 'PD5' was not declared in this scope

I just finished mine.

Seems to work fine so far but when i power it up from my 4ms row pow the leds stay blue, super bright and nothing works, just super bright blue steady leds... It power up fine with the tps30max from intellijel and the Mutable module tester tho. Any idea why ?

Thanks

Something similar here: powers on w/all LEDs blue and max bright. I also tried with a row power 30, diy power supply, as well as my mutable module tester as power sources and all gave the same result. Sometimes it will power up with seemingly random colors, but most of the time they are all blue. The encoder seems to do nothing, but checking with the mod tester input it looks like the gate out is working when the pads are touched. :hmm:

I thought it might be software related, but I get no compile errors using the arduino ide and the nano seems to program just fine. I also tested IC1 to ensure 5v out, but can't recall if I checked all test points for proper voltage per the build doc during building. fwiw, I built up one of the revised black boards.

It doesn't work with your mutable module tester? What brick you used? It works fine with mine.. well the first time i connected it it wasnt but after one other try it was fine.
