I'd definitely be down for a pcb+panel+pre-programmed chip of this. Been looking for something like this.

Yow! You're channeling somewhere as an unholy blend of Skrillex and Tomita!

I think you "get it" (the FMOgre).
Ha thanks...Skrillex may well be my son and Tomita my Grandfather:)

I have really enjoyed putting the FMOgre through its paces. It really is very versatile.
Great for dialling in precise stuff or just plain experimental wiggling.

My taste is for gnarlier timbres and the Ogre can get pretty wild if you need but it does really nice musical clean tones too.

Cheers for designing it and I see a few of them being permanent additions to my system:)

sorry, I will not offer boards with pre-soldered chips
I sometimes still need to reflow that chip, so I would rather sell fully built (and debugged) modules than pre-soldered chips
Totally understand. Will be following this thread either way :)

Got the prototype board set in the mail from Timo!

Looks great!

And Timo was right to move it out to 8 HP; there's just no room for two knobs across at 6 HP. You'd need a
screwdriver adjust to coarse tune. :-)

Now I gotta get the order in to Mouser for the parts; I'd been putting it off b/c I got a nasty respiratory virus (took
out a bunch of people at work too, not just me. Even private contractors were taking time off, that's how bad it is)

So: plan forward: Mouser order post haste. Even though I have the parts, I want to proof out a Mouser parts kit so
other people can order it *KNOWING* they will have everything they need (except for jacks and knobs, those you
get from Thonk / Smallbear / ctrl-mod.com )

Then put a couple of them together and see how they fly. :-)

Putting together a cart for this and have a question about the diodes, will a sod123 1n5819 fit the footprint? Or is this the part referenced in the bom? http://www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDetail/F ... YOzUt6k%3d Cheers!

I would appreciate this so much! This being my first SMD project, a cart approved by the designer of the board would give me much more confidence moving forward. :tu:

I think sod123 will fit, but I would go for something like this:
http://www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDetail/F ... 2f1KLHo%3d

the part you mention seems a little overkill

Thanks Timo, only thing left is the dspic chip - but I think I'll wait for some pre-programmed if that ends up panning out. Do you have an estimate of how much they might cost pre-programmed? If it's going to be much more then I'll pick up the programmer.

I can get an estimate after I approve the samples I received, I will try to do that tonight.

thanks for all the interest, I think I updated it all now

the pre-programmed chips have been tested and are ok. I ordered 26 (just above the 25pcs price break) and then the price including everything is 8.50 euro for chip (basically cost price, with only 20 cent rounding or so).

I'd be in for 2 full sets, and I'll probably drive to meet Bill (I'm in Somerville) for programming.

If you go for the preprogrammed chip, you won't need programming.

One thing I haven't figured out - a way to reprogram the chip "directly" - that is, thru
the frontpanel jacks, like Mutable Instruments does. I'm actually not sure it's possible
to do on the DSPIC33.
