Small bipolar wallwart PSU for other project...

Post by snaper » Tue Aug 11, 2015 12:39 am

Hi Guys,

Could you recommend me a good, working and simple schemo for a small PSU, with 12-15V DC input and +-12V or +-15V output?

I need this for smaller projects.

Actually, Im using the FCUK mini power, but AC wallwart power adapters are really hard to find here :(, and I need a bunch of them.

DC adapters are easy to find and cheap.

I need 200mA max.

I guess you'll need to go down the DC/DC Converter route, It's not a cheap option though

I'd keep my eyes open for an AC/AC Wall Wart and use Ray Wilson's solution.

I am totally ignorant about this. can't you use ebay or amazon or such?
Anyway your only option would be a DC/DC converter as aready stated... maybe user @Tombola might help you.

You can use a 1.6A wallwart without any problems, but I would be wary of trying to draw too much current from FC's board as it's designed for 500ma per rail.

When I build a PSU I always make sure there's plenty of headroom i.e. even if it's "rated" at 1A per rail, I make sure I never use more than 500ma. It's just a precaution to help keep the PSU cool and VCO's stable.

There's always the option of getting 2x wallwarts and running them as a bipolar supply with a common '0v'

The MFOS site always has some helpful bits and schematics for this type of thing too - http://www.musicfromouterspace.com/anal ... SUPPLY.php
