New Modcan Dual Delay

Post by synthmaker » Wed Nov 28, 2012 10:32 pm

I have had many requests to do a Euro version of the Modcan Digital Delay
in the past and so decided to go one better and do a totally new design, taking advantage of some of the recent developments in microprocessor technology.
Hope to have it available by end of January.
Price is TBD but hopefully reasonable.

Specs and Features:

-Dual Delay with two independent Digital Delay channels with up to 5.6 seconds of Delay
-choice of both traditional clean delay(no-pitchshift) and re-sample delay (with pitch shifting) modes for each channel.
-Voltage control of most parameters.
-Built in fully variable 24dB Lowpass filter for post delay processing with resonance. CV control of filter Cutoff and resonance.
-3 different routing modes: Dual mono, Mono in stereo out and Dual tap mode
-tap tempo for both delays with external clock sync inputs.
-3 delay ranges for each delay
-16bit audio resolution with 48khz sample rate.
-controls are 12bit
-code by the ever masterful Eric Brombaugh

Some Audio MP3s are available here:

2 separate tap tempo delays? With clock inputs. Sick. Just sick.

The filter only affects the echos or delay portion of the signal.
It is great for emulating mellow BBD and tape echo effects.

Check out the clean+ filter mp3 for an example of the filter in action.

Right now its 21HP but I should probably make it 20.
Do people hate odd widths or is it not a big deal?

Yes, odd widths are the worst thing to deal with! 20hp would be great. Oddly, that's how it fit into the planner already.

Personally I have no problem at all with odd widths. If the spacing of the knobs and jacks is better with an extra 1hp added on, the so be it. The logic of the design should dictate how wide it is, not whether it is an even or odd number of hp...

This thing looks really awesome !

Go 20HP or 22HP, just forget about going with odd HP.

I'll consider it only if it's 21.5HP.

(Honestly, I'd also rather have it be larger and even HP with more UI space than something odd.)

very cool, but imo a niche to be filled would be a small VCDD, 8-10hp.

Now that you mention this it sounds like a good idea.

What might be better than a dual 20HP delay could be a single 8HP delay AND a 4 to 6 HP master link module that could be used to link 2. 3 or 4 of the single delays! :hyper:
