Very cool! I have the DO and am building my 9u with the idea of being able to do three polyphonic voices so this could be the ticket. It is missing the ramp and square waveforms though. What is the advantage of two subouts? and two 1v/oct?

to be fair; it has a pulse out, which @ 50% IS square, and the ramp sounds identical to the saw; in LFO speeds the effect can be regained using a simple inverter.

You are right about inverting the saw but getting a square is hard to dial in when I tried on the DO. Not a big deal really.

As for the price:

The next Eurorack module from Macbeth Studio Systems will be the Oscillator. More than just one half of the Dual Oscillator, this single module retains the full and rich sound of the original but offers a wide range Osc Sweep knob as opposed to the octave switch while still using the luxury multi-turn fine tuning pot. It also has a switch to put it into LFO mode as well as two seperate sub oscillator outputs- in addition to all the standard waveform outputs.

We expect the X-Series Oscillator in early January for a price around $699. The size is 21 HP. For those who already have a Dual Oscillator, it makes a perfect third oscillator/modulator for that classic "Minimoog voice".

It's coming Real Soon Now; last I heard he was hand assembling the manufactured parts to test before sending them in for assembly...

Incidently, what I'd really like to see (and I'm sure would sell like hotcakes) is a seperate version of his filter...

This looks like an Euro version of MK1 (5U) Oscillator B....lovely one!!!
If he's doing his 5U models into Euro you're going to see a couple of "stand alone" filters very soon

I will definitely buy this one. I personaly felt that two MacBeth oscillators

would be two much. So this is perfect for me. :yay:

I think one sub out is 1 octave down and the other is 2 octaves down.
Not sure about the two 1v/oct inputs...Ken?

Don't mis-underestimate the beauty of Ken's envelopes...and the full functionality of the 'backend' filter module.
That being said, I agree 8_)...but an X-series SVF would be my desire though. :hihi:

The first one could be used for a quantized sequence and the second one would be for transposing that sequence.

Still seems too pricey at $700 for standard waveforms. Two sub outs dont really matter too much to me personally - especially since I have an AFG.

Fully, fully agreed. that's pretty much all a lot of people want (or can afford) out of Macbeth's stuff.

Though i don't doubt it is a nice sounding VCO...

Yes, it's TOO expensive! One can get 3xRs95e for the less than that.

You would really need re double and this for that mini voice(!).

And the slim phatty analogy is actually quite accurate.

$700? Dont see how thats an issue knowing the price of the original. Did anyone seriously think it would be LESS then half?

700/1300 = .54
seems like a fair price to me :despair:

minus the ring modulator and noise.
