hilarious 1HP modules / ideas

Post by seismic » Tue Aug 18, 2020 3:06 am

Hi all

i recently made some sketches for a 1HP powersupply, and i also had the idea of making a type-C hub in 1HP.

Apart from these two "usecases" no other function jumped into my mind to be done in hilarious 1HP.

Anybody some ideas to be done in 1HP???

Some kind of a light source would be nice, maybe a gooseneck

Or just a really nice blinky led light panel. Will a jack fit onto a 1hp panel? If so you could make a 1HP led level meter with red leds at the top section?

A load of switches that could be linked to jumpers?

Not hilarious in any way, but just a 1HP panel with holes drilled into it for air flow?

A contact mic fitted onto the back of it (which can then be connected via a cable into the front of another module... somehow.. maybe the cable comes through a hole in the module itself so it can then be connected up to anything. Then you can tap or scrape away at the module to cause vibrations like mutable ears. But in 1hp

Sounds like a job for the dreaded no pass filter. 1 input jack attached to a plate, nothing else. It’s passive I tells ya!

i think switches would be possible, they come in super tiny shapes :)
maybe for some passive module to switch things on and off.

no - jacks don't fit :( smallest one i found is just about 5mm, and you'll need to attach it to a PCB. that makes more than 5mm..

:hihi:

Or along those lines: business card holder? Or better: (micro) SD card holder?

Or maybe some sort of ventilation/fan thing (I honestly don't know if they make them that flat).

Or a panel with cable ties sticking out so you can stick them between modules and tidy up that noodle soup you've got going on there?

PS. I do like the idea of having a USB port that small. Great of powering portable recorders too.

What about a 1hp blank panel to fill gaps between modules? Oh; hang on, wait, what? :hmm: Never mind

it's pretty amusing to see people suggesting funny ideas, but for quite some time many people in eurorack land were screaming for 2HP and MI clones as micro-modules :)

How about a credit card swiper, so your eurorack can directly empty your bank account?
