puzzling out a solution w/ Magneto modulation?

Post by submute » Thu May 14, 2020 8:44 pm

When you send a 5v edge to Magneto's Shift input, it toggles the pitch shift mode. It's nice, but I want to turn it on and off briefly, not for the duration for the square I'm currently using to toggle it. Any ideas? I have MATHS, a Disting, and some other EGs, etc. but, if I am articulating this well, I want it turned on with the slow repetition of the square LFO, but very quickly/immediately turned off by some other source.

You can do this with a delay and maths. Delay the gate for the desired length of the trigger, 100% wet output. run the original And delayed into 2 channels of maths and subtract the delayed from original.

You’ll get a positive pulse when the gate goes high and a negative pulse when it goes low but Magneto will ignore them negative pulse.

Or even better just use maths... try a slow attack on one channel and subtract that signal from the gate, it will give a funky shaped pulse which you can adjust by ear to trigger magneto as desired.

Interesting tips, I will try them out! I ended up using gates from steps 15 and 16 of a 16-step sequence, so it's only on for that 15th step and then turned off by the 16th.
