Keystep pro having only 37 keys is just stupid. That makes it much harder to real-time record across registers.

Doesn't anyone play instruments anymore? These mini keyboards are terrible.
Will be a hit with the new crowd I guess. I bought a Keystep a year ago assuming it would be fun to play/program. It's gathering dust now while my Novation SLmk3 is an absolute show stealer (I play in a band).

Playing live with a Keystep was such a pain until I got an Essential 49. I've never played keys live before then, so I didn't know my hands were too big for the tiny keys. If they gave a full keys version with more range it would be fire, but maybe they wanna undercut the SL mk3.

I find it humorous that so many Peak demos are done with a Keystep.. I mean, I guess it's ok for ambience... It's a poly synth. I don't even play keys efficiently and I utilize all 5 octaves and then some every time I touch the Summit.

Does anyone know if files saved on the beatstep pro software will be transferable to the new keystep?

Thought I'd check out the new delay, but I gave up after Pittsburgh dude rambled for 1:20 about releasing a module with a different color faceplate. Lots of love, but I suggest tightening up your spiel.

You have to admit the guy explaining the name was funny.

Why the b? Because it's black. When Korg did it I thought it was stupid but now it makes sense.

I'm being too critical aren't I? I'd laugh at that story at a dinner party for sure, but watching him get to the two minute point of one of the more prominent interview vids he is going to get out of this convention without even mentioning their new product made me cringe. From a marketing pov, it felt just a little like listening to a George W. Bush speech. Burying their lead with an aw-shucks story well past the click-away point of most videos. Still being too critical, I know.

My suggestion:
"First we have an update of our popular voice module in black this year. You'll hear it in action as we feature our new delay we are very proud of because it does xyz. . . "

I'd say the way he showed it "allows" you to be too critical.

That's the direction I'm leaning. I use my KeyStep, but I don't love it, and I can hardly be bothered to edit sequences in MIDI Control Center, so I would rather have something with more direct control. And as much as I would like the extra CV/gate outs and clock in/reseton the KSP, I can get by without them. I think the SL's keybed is more important, unless I find a non-keyboard master sequencer I like more.
If you have an original MI Rings panel you're willing to part with, please PM me.

Data Bender sounds like a stereo Merris Ottobit. Very cool.

Qubit has so many interesting modules now I could see myself making a complete system with their stuff

Keystep is definitely not for programming. I use it mainly as a cheap controller/arpeggiator, and on-the-fly sequence editing and for the price it's OK.

Now the Keystep pro looks much more fun to program with 16 steps accessible directly and dedicated knobs for pitch/gate length/velocity. If you could program a step note with the press of a step + a note from the keyboard (which it should) it's going to be a very easy and intuitive sequencer. With 4 CV tracks outs + 8 drum gates it should have a lot of success.

The only issue I see is for that price it starts competing with other very good sequencer, while the OG Keystep was competing with stuff like the SQ-1

When black Keystep pros start hitting the second hand market I'll start considering it.

So the eurorack trend for 2020 is stereo! By 2030 we might have modules with quad outputs

I hope there will be more touchscreen control for Eurorack, with firmware capable of flexible modulation matrix and physical CV I/O. In the last two, three years the power of modular chips are better and better. Sometimes I quickly regret my new purchases when seeing the next products emerged in the Eurorack market. Things are changing fast.

Now this sounds intriguing. Seems like it might be legitimately modular, like Erbe-verb.

Couldn’t bother to fast forward?

Steer clear of IMEs live presentations if that was cringey for you.

... why buy it for $100 when you can build it yourself for $150?

So if you can stomach it, I suppose you can have a Behringer reproduction Roland System 100 for around $1400? (The panels have been on ModularGrid for months, each says $100, but that might be current pricing.)

Of course I went back and watched it after making such a fuss over it. And if you look at the 1 min video about the black H9 above, Pitts was just on the bleeding edge of trends this year.

PS. The Pitts Delay looks pretty wicked for feedback/drone patches.

The new Akai MPC One has 4 TRS CV/Gate Jacks (8 Outputs Total) for controlling Eurorack. Unclear if you're stuck with 4 CVs and 4 Gates or you can map them how you want. At $699 it seems like this might lure some beatmakers into Eurorack and might sway some of us into the MPC world.

Hadn't looked into that MPC but that CV integration is awesome. I'm currently looking to get rid of my Maschine cause I wanted something completely stand alone, might look into this. Also not sure if anyone has posted this yet, I know it's not fully Euro but...
