Crucible = Molten Chalice

Curved Metal and Cymbal Synthesizer

Feel the sizzle as you harness the energy of liquid metal. Forge your sonic desires, and rain hot fire onto the eardrums of your listeners. Cymbals, gongs, bells, and sheet metal are the territory of Crucible.

Have you ever wanted to start with the smallest cowbell, and then CV it until it becomes a gong larger than the room you're standing in? Crucible makes this possible.

By utilizing classic digital synthesis blocks like delay and digital filters, Crucible can fully synthesize, in real time, sounds similar to thin struck pieces of metal.

We expose the engine to the user through parameters specifically chosen for their sonic resemblance to the "parameters" of a real drum kit cymbal.

Size, Pitch, Tone, and Deform give the user the tools to shape their cymbal. The Excite knob allow the user to shape their exciter, completely changing Crucible's response. Finally, select where the exciter contacts the engine by triggering the EDGE and MID inputs, or trigger both to strike the "bell."

All of this adds up to a module that is lively and energetic, completely mimicking the feeling of playing a real cymbal, while still incorporating WMD's "New Sounds, Maximum Experience" philosophy.

- Realistic sound!

- Positional trigger input. Hit the edge, middle, or bell.

- 3 Model Types: Cymbal, Cracked Cymbal, and Curved Plate

- Audio input for experimental effects.

- Separate Pitch and Size controls for maximum realism.

- Choke input for perfectly timed catches.

- Proprietary Synthesis model using digital filter and delay networks. No samples!

Hopefully it will be more fracture than chimera, loved one hated the other! Roll on the sound demos

Sold! I have the Chimera and it is a great tool. This new one is what I have been hoping for to compliment the Chimera and my HATS909 that makes some great metallic crashes.

Intrigued by this one. I've enjoyed the fracture so far and this one looks like it would be fun with the excite and choke inputs.

I’m the opposite - love the Chimera and really wasn’t a fan of the fracture!

I was sold. And then I realized that there was an Input for an external exciter and I was even more sold. I could even see myself getting two of these. Not that you couldn't modulate in the correct way to get a crash and a ride, but having two simultaneously would make for some nice textures.

I'm excited for it. Seems like there is a lot of potential there for both percussion and more experimental / sound design applications. Looking forward to a proper demo.

Just noticed the VEL input. That is a nice feature. Pretty exited with this one's possibilities. Love the metal. :sb:

Same ! Love Chimera, very useful. I found some of the sounds in Fracture a bit goofy. Looking forward to hearing more demos of this !

Good on WMD for continuing to push their percussion line up. This looks like a great addition to the range.

I wonder if it will make a really nice open hat sound, i don't want to use a sample, but i lack a real sounding open hat thats not a 909, this seems like it might do the job actually. Any of the other WMD do a really nice disco'ish open hat ZZZZZT sound?

Same...i could have been convinced to lose the machine drum but the first two offerings were a tad meh for me but this I like.

I tried Crucible this weekend as well, and it's really their most impressive percussion module yet IMO. It sounded great, lots of punch to the cymbal sound for sure. Amazing ride cymbal noises. Paired with the Metron it was a lot of fun.

This is more up my alley than the other previous ones in similar format. Splendid crusty tones!

Mr. Crunk was it also able to get into gong/clanging metal/brass bowl territory?
