Sputnik Modular @ Tokyo Modular Meet

Post by exper » Sat Jun 07, 2014 3:54 pm

Photos from Richard Divine's facebook page...

According to RD, Roman is releasing all of these modules very soon, and 13 more to follow later this year. Woah.

Does anyone know anything else about this? I might lose some sleep over that West Coast Random Source and Quad LPF/VCA (if it is indeed a vactrol based LPG module...)

Holy smoke, those look great!

Great that the Buchla posse (Verbos, Sputnik) lean towards Eurorack too! Maybe not the most original modules, but by the looks of it, very interesting indeed!

edit: funny that the first word in both replies (simultaneously) is Holy 8_)

I have pretty much all these functions covered with my existing system, so I probably wouldnt pick these up, but very cool nonetheless!
I wish there was a larger pic of the 4 tap delay, as that's the most interesting to me.

What 4 tap delay? I must have missed that one. (EDIT: Derp. Its in the pic I even put here... )

Anyway, I agree. I'm perfectly happy with my oscillators, and I'd rather have my Quadra/Expander and Dubmix, but like I said. I've been looking for someone to make a new quad LPG/292 clone in euro.

And that West Coast Random Source may have just made me pause on the SSF Ultra Random Analog/Quantum Rainbow combo.

These look great. Seem to be "offical" releases of his DIY and Buchla clone projects. I've had a few of these in different formats.

So, who is behind this I wonder? He must have someone backing this line. It's too big to introduce all at once. And to have 13 more planned!

no idea. but to have so much ready he's probably been working on it for a year or so right? i mean.. i have no idea how hard or easy it is to redesign/engineer for a different format.. but his clones are really popular and he's been doing it for a long time.. even has his own forum.. .so perhaps this is all his doing.

but personally.. it's not something i'm concerned with... unless he's back by Monsanto or something. ;)

It didnt occur to me at first, but now that I see the west coast random source, Im kicking myself for spending 700 on a euro format 266 clone.
I know we dont have any price info yet, but Id be surprised if it cost that much.

Hah, I was going to post something about these :hihi:

The system looks really awesome in person and Roman told me that the modules would be competitively priced (I first said that it seemed great but was probably too expensive for me and he assured me that it would not be more expensive than stuff from other manufacturers).

These were prototypes and there was a small problem with the mixer's output so I couldn't test it properly but maybe it'll be fixed today...

Also, the modules are all skiff-friendly and I think Darkplace will be manufacturing them (Josh from Malekko/Darkplace is also there at the festival).

Anyway, that was a surprise and I actually walked past the system a couple of times thinking it was a Buchla before realizing it was actually euro... :cloud:

These look great! Curious if the Quad VCF/VCA is resonant at all, would be a dream come true if it is.
