Paia 4710 balanced modulator and 2720-1 VCA hum...

Hi,

New to this list....

I'm curious if other Paia owners have experienced hum when using modules that use 18V off of the standard Paia 4700 power supply - like the 2710-1 VCA and 4710 VCA/Balanced modulator. The other voltages that the PSU supplies are regulated, but not the 18V.

Is it generally a good idea to just replace the 4700 system's 18V supply with a different, regulated one, or are there some work arounds for these modules which may help reduce the hum, when present? Or... are other people's VCAs relatively quiet, even with the unregulated supply?

I should add that I recapped (with larger values) and calibrated both VCAs, but it did not help.

i recently just ran into some problems with the 18v...not hum but modulation
scott is sending me some stuff to filter out my issues

My 2720 and 4710 VCAs don't produce the hum that you speak of. I'd really suggest recapping the 4771 (and really everything else while you're at it). I also found that the machine did run better and quieter with a new regulated power source.
