Very sad. I didn’t know Mike at all but I certainly have appreciated his creation over the years and it has been one of the only online communities I have really felt a part of. His creation will live on and hopefully we can continue to make him proud of it. As a side, I also feel like a bit of an asshole for criticizing his managing of funds and running the forum recently. I had no idea the situation was so dire. I only wish we had all known so we could have helped him out even more if he needed it. My deepest sympathies to all of his family and friends.

Really sad for us all. RIP Mike. Copying what I've wrote elsewhere below, but I'd like to add that people that now know my family and others that I speak to several times a week all spawned from this place. Huge respect and thank you for the legacy.
I can't find this video anywhere else but for those with Facebook here was the speech at the store opening that I've found myself rewatching (couldn't be there) this morning. the video speaks to the good and intentions for the community.
"Muff Wiggler was extremely important, vibrant and key place for me when I started. The sheer amount of information, the range information and most importantly the good people. It was obvious from the get go that despite my inexperience on a forum (I’d never used one prior to MW) the people were friendly and helpful. Through the years of me using it, some of those intensely checking in multiple times a day I rarely encountered anything but nice helpful people. Mike really did foster and nurture a good atmosphere early on and that was clear through the users I engaged with. The forum was crucial in me making videos, it was part of the inspiration to do it and the early support that spurred me on working like a maniac on borrowed equipment around touring and a lot of other work I was committed to. Although views (of course) were probably under 50 at the time the users and then manufacturers that I got talking to were key to me continuing and ending up where I am now. I spoke to Mike a few times and he was also extremely supportive and quick to mention me in a positive manner promoting what I was doing to others. We shared some ideas occasionally but it was rare we really kept in touch or spoke much beyond Modular/videos, so I won’t pretend to know him much personally. It was clear he was a good person, who did something and created something amazing that has benefit us all, that has no doubt influenced the wider synth and certainly modular scenes for the better. So once again RIP to Mike and thank you for the legacy you’ve left."

Goodbye Mike. Thank you for this place.
To say that the Community you created had a huge impact on my life is an understatement.
There are not enough sad bananas on the internet to emote how I feel right now. You will be missed.

Damn. Dont post here much, but I knew Mike from before MW started, and joined up very early on at his urging.
RIP.
RIP.
"Did I spend $3000 on a modular synth just to later find out it's made with a bunch of digital junk? Isn't integrated circuits basically a digital component? How analog is my ANALOG modular synth, really? I feel betrayed right now"

Adding my pennyworth.
Few people can have the impact that Mike had on electronic music. I can only hope this is recognised outside this group and into the wider music world.
It is my belief that the resurgence in Modular (& semi & analogue) Synths has been down to such a strong hub that Muffwiggler has been since the beginning.
No Muffwiggler =
No CV/gate/patch points as standard on modern synths
No Superbooth
No TTSH & countless other independent manufacturers/DIY project resources.
No Eurorack boom
No meet ups and MOTS
No fair and open BST environments.
No place to bitch/hype new releases.
R.I.P. Mike, I never knew you, but you changed my life for the better.

This is shockingly sad news. My thoughts are with his family. Rest in Peace Mike.
