This one is pretty good, although I'm not sure the pedal fairs well for either vocal or keys in the end:

Feels more like a special effect to me.

politics and secrets I feel like he's been talking about the Prime Time in interviews since the 80s, seems like an ill-kept secret, especially since it's immediately identifiable to any of us. He mentions the Korg and Morley units by name too, I wonder if Premier Guitar had a request against mentio...

Just to clarify, a frequency shifter is not the same thing as a pitch shifter. A frequency shifter works like a ring modulator, except it outputs only one sideband.

I don't think there is frequency shifter + delay pedal, but a reasonable facsimile of the FreqEcho would be the EHX Ring Thing (which is a frequency shifter, just switch to UB or LB modes) placed in the effects loop of a delay that has one, like the EHX Deluxe Memory Boy.

£347? :woah: Street looks like it might be £289 (at least if this preorder page is right: https://www.djkit.com/yamaha/yamaha-reface-dx.html). So, in the US, that's what, $450 street? Considering what you can get from Arturia/Roland/Novation/Korg/Waldorf for around the same price, I just don't get ...

Shame they didn't do a black lower octave on the red one, that would have looked sharp. If these can compete with the price of those mini, USB-only MIDI controllers, I can see some potential since these have hostless MIDI I/O and you'd get a nifty little synth thrown in. But the absence of pitch ben...

I'm not sure if it's a perfect match to the Antares Looper, but you could check out Soundhack's +pvocloop. Comes in the pvoc bundle:

No idea if it is actually in stock, though. I picked it up when the reissue first came out, years ago now.

Lol, seriously, they are like the British equivalent of Beavis and Butthead  Yeah, pretty much. They come across as near braindead. Not sure why they even approached someone from Q for the show, considering the magazine spent ten years doing little more than professing their love of Oasis and ...

BBC's The Shape of Things That Hum

Has this ever been posted here? I couldn't find it through searching. A BBC program on classic electronic music gear, one of the best of its kind (although don't put much stock in the comments from the two music journalists in this one, they seem wholly unqualified to comment). Although it bears pointing out that Kyma isn't really a software solution given that it's dependent upon a specific hardware engine.

I've only a basic understanding of the 296e, but it strikes me some of Virsyn's software is the closest match: http://www.virsyn.de/en/E_Products/E_BARK/e_bark.html http://www.virsyn.de/en/E_Products/E_MATRIX/e_matrix.html The trouble with getting a ...

Vaz can send signals that can be used as CV, yes, but your audio interface has to be able to output DC for it to work. If the outputs aren't DC-coupled on your interface, it won't work.

Vaz Modular can, it's even conveniently arrayed like a modular synth would be.

I assume any of the modular programming environments should have no problem with it: Max/MSP, Bidule, PD.

Drones are perfectly fine as a structural component of a piece but not the end all. I think you're cutting off the nose to spite the face. Just because a lot of people are lazy and use drones as a crutch doesn't mean drones can't be the focus of a composition. Some people use all manner of devices ...

What is a good drone? I've been thinking about this question since last night, and can't come up with a straightforward answer. I can hardly stand to listen to King Crimson anymore, either. I used to think that Robert Fripp was the bee's knees, but his stuff just sounds musically bereft to me now. I can't stand King Crimson either. Not as much as I dislike ELP, but close. Fripp is less of the issue for me than the singers. ...

Are you sure it isn't? I just did a search, this guy seems to suggest it is. Doesn't have a dedicated trigger in, but as long as the input isn't DC-coupled, that should be the same net result, no?

I'm sure one of them is pingable and is less than $2000 2000$ for a serge filter? that's inaccurate. Not what I meant. My list of modules was $2000 less than the Animoo price, so if I took out the Toppo filter for something pingable, I'm sure it'll still be less. Although that said, I'm not sure if...

VCF: Toppobrillo Filter $240 but that's not a "pingable" filter like the serge..... I just picked a multimode VCF. There are over 60 VCFs listed in the Euro database, I'm sure one of them is pingable and is less than $2000. But function matching isn't the same as an exact replica, so I'm not saying...
