1 Pulse to 1 Midi step

So I know there have been a few similar threads discussing this. But this is a bit more specific. Goal: To take single pulses generated from percussion (not necessarily in consistent time or tempo) to step forward a midi sequencer 1 step respectively. It's easy to achieve this in the analog realm, i...

a TB-03 will do this as it has a trigger in for stepping seq, and it has midi-out.

I spent a bit of time with it and my soldering iron. Touched up 20 or so joints, and found one in particular that was problematic which made a huge difference. However, there are still issues with the 2nd from the left CV input control pot. Lightly pressing this pot will cut out signal from the bott...

Thanks for taking a close look at these pics! I have my soldering iron at my sound studio and my synth at home, so I'm going to go at it with the iron tonight. Last night I prodded around a bit more and scraped some of the flux away and got a more consistent pitch to come out of it. I'll let you kno...

wow, thanks for the help J3RK and negate. I just took the module out and while powered toyed around with it for a bit. It definitely seems like a connection issue... if I pull back on the corner circled in red (towards me) on the bottom right of the PCB it fizzles for a sec and kicks in with what so...

There could be a few edge cases on the wave shaping trims that could cause some strange behavior I think, but it sounds a bit more like maybe something shorting or disconnecting at the panel, or maybe a bad ground connection somewhere. I haven't looked at the V version before. Is it two VCOs on a s...

Hey thanks for the input, negate. I've had it in a few different spots in my little boat and tested it outside of the case entirely, doesn't seem to effect it. I would assume it's a bad solder joint, since tapping it causes intermittence-- someone messaged me that it could be a trimmer adjustment is...

STS is impeccable. Had some issues with Buchla, but for the most part it's ok I think. STS tho... I was once in Rex's workshop when he picked up a loose panel, plugged into an oscilloscope and started banging it repeatedly on the tabletop. "YOU SEE THAT? ROCK SOLID". It was insane.

258V VCO problem

Seeking a helping hand here: I have a 258V that has been showing some problems for the last few months. Basically the bottom VCO is fucked up... it sends out a garbled, wavering pitch accompanied by white noise. If you lightly tap the panel it sometimes it cuts in and out. (take a look at the vid) T...

Did you ever figure out the course of the problem? I should've responded to this earlier.. yes apparently a cap crapped out right beneath the ribbon cable and caused it to catch fire. alex sent me a different unit, but says he still doesn't know what caused that specific cap to go and that he's nev...

I believe it is an artifact of the resolution of the DACs generating the control voltages for the amplitude, center frequency, and bandwidth parameters of the three filters. Surprisingly, there are no capacitors anywhere in between the DAC and these parameters, and as a result, there is audible ste...

i had been using the filter solid for about an hour and a half... it should be able to handle that, but i wonder if it was generating a lot of heat and then some component crapped out and then heat got to the ribbon cable? startling to say the least... ohh that smell.

Buchla 291e on fire ...

So today my Buchla 291e started melting and smoking out of nowhere. Pulled the plug immediately and popped the thing out. I have no idea what happened-- I had nothing strange going on with my setup. Audio in, audio out. Using a brand new powered 4-space boat and power supply that I got directly from...

258V VCO drift

I'm having some stability issues with my 258V. The lower VCO drifts quite badly and just doesn't want to sit on one pitch. It's getting good power and everything. Just wondering if anyone else might be familiar with this issue or be able to chime in. I've contacted Mark, but I think he's out for the...
