Re: ? using NCom/Logic to sync Serge to External Drum Machine

Ha, thanks!

It was a bit OT I guess, but Preamp - Env Follower - Comparator - Slope - Comparator - Slope is one of my favourite patches, deriving timing and control information at each step

Re: ? using NCom/Logic to sync Serge to External Drum Machine

Indeed one could say a preamp or external input is essential. I often put my external input (ie looped audio) through a vocoder module first, then through one of a few types of comparators and / or slopes I’ve built especially for this job. Slope Detectors and similar are great too and it is somethi...

Re: Confirming SSG CUPL Behaviors

I always thought the HOT coupler was needed (or better) as it gave a wider range of randomness, rather than any other technical reason... I notice there are some fun new emojis:

Re: CGS506 MCSM - Has anyone built it ?

I do squash them together, usually use a bit of heatshrink to keep them that way and compound between, but didn't notice any issues with the calibration on my first one which was naked in a draughty workshop for a long while.

Re: The 2019 Show Us Your DIY Builds Thread

 How amazing and how neat! looks fantastic! With Slightly Nasty stuff taking up so much of my free time, it's been a while since I've been able to just do a good old-fashioned one-off build for my own studio. So I took advantage of my Christmas break to finally build up this discrete diode-bri...

Re: CGS51 weighted random switch + cgs55 analog switch matrix

I can clock mine from:

PCO sine
PCO triangle
PCO saw
DTG out
DTG end out

is that helpful? Oh should add, I don't have Switch Matrix attached, just the WR

Re: Baby's first Serge: STS Animal vs. R*S La Bestia II

The *RS* version is really 'the same but different' - it uses THAT VCA's not the Serge gain cells that STS uses. Swapping out the gain cells is like replacing the V8 in a '69 Mustang for a new something engine, sure it is an 'improvement' but in what way? (I don't actually know anything about cars, ...

Re: CGS51 weighted random switch + cgs55 analog switch matrix

I had one WRS that didn’t work for years and I was tearing my head out whenever I looked at it, I think in the end it was the logic chips as you suggest, I basically rebuilt it to no avail and iirc removed the chips to use elsewhere and then replaced them and it worked...

Re: Sing to Me Question

I can make it fit, each panel is custom made and I can put the mounting holes where I feel like! I think the placement originally was something I saw on the internet and followed (maybe Best of CGS?) but more recently I've moved them so that they can be racked with LW modules - in a larger studio ca...

Re: CGS 59 Programmer question

Is it the new PCB from Elby? The old one had only two pads: B - to common on switch PB - to N.O. on switch I assume you have a new one then if three pads, but if you follow the schematic (which I guess is the same?) you should be able to see what is what. I'd be interested to seee a photo of the PCB...

Re: Does Serge make sense for Noob?

The big difference between actual Serge and EuroSerge is that the Euro stuff is generally going to be less expensive... I’ve often found when pricing my builds that they are cheaper than a comparable Euro selection of modules, also one should consider that any full 17” panel comes in a boat, so tha...
