Dusg led query
So I'm wondering if someone could please help me understand this better. I've built up a dusg with LEDs from tayda, which they say are 20ma, yellow. The current limiting resistors are 1k, and 47k at the base of the transistors, which is the silkscreen value, but the schematic has 150k. When I power ...

Stroh operator wiring diagram
I looked thru the different threads about this, and can't find one anywhere. Not sure which way the pots are supposed to be wired, or the LEDs. I have MTA headers already soldered in so it's hard to follow the traces. Anyone know if there is a diagram around? Thanx

Just to update those of you with the good tips, the asr is now locked in the way it should be! Guest - you were right about the cleaning, that did it. Maybe the red color pcb made it hard to see how fluxey it really was! Makes me wanna try that on a couple other things too. Sad to say I didn't reali...

Yes it is a steady droop, just constantly descending as it trills thru the voltages. I'll clean it off better, and try swapping one out to hear the difference. A little I can live with, but this is immediate and severe. I guess I am wondering if different cap materials allow more or less of that. My...

Shift Register Major Droop
Hello, I'm hoping someone will have some insight on this. I built up two elby designs asr boards, one is panelled so far. There are four caps, c201-204, one next to each of the ca3140 opamps, and the bom calls for 100n polypropylene. Perhaps foolishly I substituted 100n mylar greenies here (on both b...

Wow, you nailed it. I had two 100ks in parallel instead of 10ks for the 4.99k (r4), you busted me on the color codes! I massacred that area trying to desolder but got it scabbed together. It's funny that the range seems pretty small, and the hf trimmer has no effect so far, but the tone from tri out...

Well the voltage at the node of r4 and r5 was 12v (I'm making this for 12v supply) . I saw r5 was 6.8k instead of the 11k on the schematic so I pulled it, then realized that I had a small note to change that for 12v operation to 6.8k. I wonder if it should be something else while I have it out? Or l...

I'm trying your ideas synthiq, and the tri out is at 9.5v with the lm311 out of circuit, and square is at 6.6v, and both are the same at the positive and negative inputs like you said. Before replacing u105 I bent pins 5 & 6 back and powered up, and they stay at 9.5 and 6.6. hmmm. Not sure what happ...

Trouble with Stroh Pico Vco
Hello out there, if any of you has a moment to advise me on this, I'd really appreciate it. I've got this put together here, and it seems to not be oscillating. The led is lit, and the tri out says 9.2v, square is 8v,but no sounds. I tried messing with the trimmers but nothing seems to happen. All t...

Thanx for the bump. I finally got that tempco, and had the fine pot wired up as described above, in parallel and with a 3.3m resistor at the wiper , bench supply and alligator clips, and the led lit up, but no oscillations. All the chips are getting power where they should. Tried trimming every whic...

Adding a fine tune knob?
To a Stroh Pico vco. There's probably several ways to go about it, but I could use some guidance. Can someone tell me a simple way to do this? I looked at my blacet vco schems but got confused. Maybe two different value pots in series somehow?

Let's say I have some modules working fine that I used Kester 331 on in the last year and didn't clean because I wanted to believe the "organic" flux would just be protecting the joints from oxidization, or just balked at the idea on running this device under the sinktap that normally you would neve...

Frac mounting rails query
Hello people - got a question for ya. You know those u-shaped channel rails for mounting modules in a 19" rack, that you attach flat rack ears to the ends? Does anyone know where to find these? Someone gave me a few with some taken-apart Paia enclosures, but I need some more for two four-panel cases...

What Nut To Order??
This seems like such a quibbling question, but I've been all around town today trying to locate or even identify the nut that goes on an 1/8" jack. The latest batch I got has those little finger-tighten-only ones. The ones with the notches I don't really like either. I got a lot of the cheap jacks a...

Resistors Again...
So my most recent forays into CGS have me ordering 1/2 watt 1% metal film. Sometimes I get lucky, but now I have them in three different sizes. I've squeezed some oversize ones into the VCS after reading that will be fine, and sprinkled some tiny ones here and there, but what size do I enter into th...

Vacuum Tube Query
So I've been running the stereo mix from my frac setup thru an ART Pro VLA two-channel tube compressor but now something is happening I'd like to ask about if anyone has any ideas. All is well for a few minutes and then things start to sound mushy and then the meter will creep up and up on its own u...
