If you don't sequence sounds on Ableton and it' s just a recorder then things are a little simpler. I have found that trying to synchronise sequencers tends to bog me down with timing problems, which totally kills the creative vibe. Without a DAW that can apply offset to its MIDI clock outputs, a sy...

I was thinking that until I understood a bit more about the hardware scene. Why bother when people are going to pre-order and buy the thing anyway? Black haven't provided documentation because it is not necessary in order to sell the synth. For every person that says Nah, there is at least another t...

I like Doepfer for their minimal use of LED's (on most modules). Super bright blue and white one really really irritate me. No screens on modules for me. I grabbed some of these for the brighter modules: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CLVEQCO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 F...

I would use MIDI. I would not use the internal sequencers of these devices, but sequence them over MIDI. Use Ableton as your master sequencer, and drive everything from there. This is really the best way to do it if you want to make full tracks- sequencing everything from one sequencer is the way t...

Use Ableton as the master and enable MIDI clock ouput for each MIDI port inLive's preferences. I found its necessary to enable count-in at Live's metronome and start playback by using Rec+ Play, because Ableton sucks and there is no option to enable the count-in for playback without recording . The ...

Those pushbutton knobs are a very cool idea, but kind of scary from a durability point of view at the same time. Brilliant design overall. Sorta has a “OP-1” vibe to it. Yes, and the white dots on the 16 encoders are nonsensical. There is also the issue of inadvertently turning the knob while press...

3. In the video demonstration the man acts as though the key-strip and knobs are "hot" - touching them briefly and quickly removing his hand. Does this indicate the New Tube Bass tech over-warms the instrument? If so, I must wonder about quality control at Korg (again! My Trident, for instance, nee...

I tried the Roli Rise in a shop... horrendous feel (I'm not even a keyboard player) and will surely not be in good shape 5 years down the line. Silicone has no place in anything other than drum pads- the kind that you hit with sticks. I don't see how anyone who has ever laid their hands on a piano w...
