See Elektron for limiting products. They blatantly do it. They can do what they want, but I'm with you and hope to see more start up companies leapfrog Elektron like they did to Roland, in the sense they 1 UPed the x0x sequencing in hardware. Deliberately gimping machines is just one of their shitt...

What Behringer competition? There is no real indication they're doing a drum machine, is there?

The DT probably has a bit more sample manipulation ability but really it's a no-brainer. I'd take this over the DT any day... It may even make me consider selling my Rytm if it has proper MIDI sync and live pattern triggering over MIDI.

You can almost certainly find a workaround with MIDI using Live or Bitwig. The Perfourmer mk2 is certainly an awesome synth.

At that price (and being another piece of gear released with unfinished firmware) it is mildly annoying (in a "whatever" kind of way). I can't see anyone without a serious investment in modulars caring about this.

Where was that cap hiding all that time? Is the DM12 bad (as in behringer bad) and do the caps just drop out? Questions!

Thanks for your replies. Yeah, I wasn't sure that listening fatigue has much to do with closed or open back. I probably just need to take more breaks. I get a slight ache in my ears/ head similar to what you might get when landing or taking off in a flight from the pressure change... it's not intens...

Can't fathom why the DTs do not have a detachable cable -an essential for me - so I'm going with the AKG 702 or 240, depending on budget. I was doing FM synthesis on the Nord 3 (which is amazing) last night with the ATH M50 and I got that headachey pressure in the skull feeling again after a couple ...

I love my Tanzbar - my only wish is for it to receive program change to switch sequences :P It's really extremely frustrating that so many drum machine makers cannot get this thing right. This here completely removes all interest I had in the Tanzbar... Better than program changes is using MIDI not...

It has an SD card. If you can just write the samples onto the card from the computer, that would be neat.

^ a midi to cv converter is probably your best bet. . . They announced OS 3.0 a while back, I think it was meant to come in January... Since they released the Hermod in the meantime, I wouldn't hold my breath for any further improvements on the Pyramid. They stopped taking feature requests some time...
