MrDys, if you want a flexible sequencer to bring to other gear, check out the spectralis. take the 24 track step seq, 11 track percussion seq, 3x realtime recording tracks.... add a filter bank, sick VA synth with analog filter, 2 fully programmable delays... Going pretty cheap used these days.. oh ...

With the BeatThang, cheap MPC's, Spectralis, Elektron gear, TeenageEngineering OP1 all out there.. BoomChicks' stepping into a pretty busy marketplace. I hope it does come out and I hope it seriously rocks.. . . . .

I wish they'd keep us more in the loop on it's development!

Im in the market in the next few months to get a field recorder. . . For recording ambience, events etc.. Does anyone here have any experience or info to share about mics for these, or have you found the internal mics adequate? Howabout for quiet recordings (crickets, slow rain etc.) thanks ~Steve.....

wow.. so no more custom panels. I didnt know that. I guess getting more panels out the door is good, and breaking them down in to smaller chunks (m-modules) is good, but there was something cool about speccing out your own custom panel and sending it in.

maybe the mounting holes should be on the same side of the panel as the jacks so the unplugging forces dont try and tweak the panel out of your rack every time you un-patch? maybe minor but...

looks good! Oakley circuits are solid performers!!

ferric chloride eats alum really vigorogusly (as Luka just found out) dilute it down to half strength and you'll have a better chance of getting something nice. also don't forget to totally seal the backside of the panels since you don't need them reacting and adding to the madness. to dispose, you ...

The machine drum is IMHO more of an all in one machine, where the 888 is straight up drummachine. the MD can easily be the center of your setup. versatile for sure.

think of it this way Kent, you record in session view some clips, trim them and stretch them untuil they loop nicely.. then you can record some midi data also in session view and get some nice softsynths going for whatever (drums, etc..) and so you end up with I dunno.. ten clips or so that you can ...

Masonite works well for backs, drill a few holes in the top and bottom for air flow, use T-nuts in the case and some machine screws to fasten the back. I wouldn't leave it open, you don't want dust settling on your mods for the next 10 years..

nice case!

Best purchase in '08 Spectralis.
Second best: I bought my ASM1 a matching brother from a guy in Canada. Matching front panel, matching jacks (bananas) and so I spent $135 on a matching set of knobs..
SCORE!

Best gear in '09 Spectralis' new OS..

I feel the same way I guess. Having something that you know is someones labor of love, and knowing that that someone has a long history in the field and has earned respect by many.. Owning an instrument like that makes it a personal experience, and that is something that drives (me at least) to want...

Good thinking there Doug.. A "Subpatch" within the main patch... Using modules together to get more functions out of your system then you have modules for. The Serge way of thinking. Another piece of evidence proving the need for "utility" modules!! And within the subpatch there are numerous permuta...
