Re: My own power supply design, based on LM2576

Here's your drawing with the missing part drawn in orange. Also drew in the preferred panel as H/S version. Note that you may not need a screw at the Vreg if the alum sheet and pcb are correctly spaced. The Vreg body is squeezed between the PCB and the alum H/S panel. And that you can use PEMnuts, A...

Lazy works if it works.

guest brings up a few maybes. If any of those prove true, then you might have wished to use the discrete approach so it can be tailored to your needs and desires. Modding as and when needed, if needed.

Which could end up being the actual most lazy result.

That reminds of the ones Befaco used to draw. Maybe still do?
Look how many crossed lines go away by simply swapping the pot pairs of the VR PCB.

Re: My own power supply design, based on LM2576

Looking only at the photo here, the first thing I'd be looking to change would be to get that heatsink lying down. Can't tell from the photo for sure, but it looks taller than the tallest elcap pair<--which would be the next thing I'd try to address. Tall is not good in a eurorack power supply. Anot...

Are B and C labeled backwards in the photo? Relative to your text description.
3 legs up suggests B is CW and C is CCW.

Another point, this time related to the wayback machine and internet archive org. Don't make the mistake of believing that things found there always will be! Internet archive makes it very clear that if a valid content IP holder wishes to have anything they've archived removed, they WILL do so. If t...

Re: Old EMS/Synthi Forum archive

Just as a point of reference. I am one of the people for whom a FB group may as well be non-existent. The idea that everyone is willing or able to use FB is a mistake. Worse, even if it's not about it 'being' FB, is the reality that FB groups are horrible for archive style content keeping. That's no...

Re: Which Joystick brings you joy?

The joysticks without a center ball pivot can go to 0,0 and min/min to max, max. Like moogs first, and those based on Roland/Korg style pitch mod controllers. It's super easy to DIY this kind of full-travel action using aluminum angle and hardware store shaft collars. When R/C hobbies besides airplan...

Re: CLK routing Switch Question. Can it be done?

Darn. Back to two jumpers. Unless the two unused switch pins can be pressed into service. The BOTH middle position still needs separation of the U1 and (L1 or ext clk jack) in its left and right positions. I *think* this is a complete spec. -------------- U1 feeding six upper comparators 4-9. U1 int...

Re: Clock Dividers. Essential Range and Divisors?

Here's the current state of the panel for the module which inspired the thread and question. There are still six divisors left to possibly be assigned . They're in white as ?? on the panel in the upper 4-9 dividers. Where they are alternate choices to the straight binary as labeled just below them i...

Re: CLK routing Switch Question. Can it be done?

im not certain there will be a way to have them not shorted with a single jumper. if they can be fed by the same clock from a single postion, that means they must be connected at that position. if you can only break a single connection, then it has to be to either one, the other, or both. if both, ...

Re: CLK routing Switch Question. Can it be done?

so what goes to the clock lines when nothing is selected? Probably easier to see the context. Slide switch next to bottom orange global comparator threshold knob. OFF/BOTH is greyed out above slide switch middle position. CLK comes in at U1 <--as arbitrary WaveForm, and L1-both via matrix switch- o...

Re: CLK routing Switch Question. Can it be done?

I think this will work: A1=Input, A2=Output1, A3=Input via jumper, A4=unused B1=unused, B2=Input via jumper, B3=Output2, B4=Input YES! This does seem to fit all cases. Thank you synthiq! Re: CLK routing Switch Question. Can it be done?

They need to be separate. The module is ten distinct dividers in two banks, fed from two different clock chains. The switch is a way to share one of these clock chains with either or both divider banks. Originally I was just treating it as an on-off-on SPDT choice. Then feature creep suggested BOTH ...

Love me some classic CTS blue disk trims! And they're still made. Beware that the newest ones have been functionally degraded from the old stock versions. The datasheet used to show a life of 200 turns. Then a newer datasheet said 50. The newest does not mention life at all. The screen printed carbo...

Re: CLK routing Switch Question. Can it be done?

Thank you for the reply, guest! I'm not following how to apply it. Slide switch has eight pins. Can we use A and B for poles so L,R aren't confused as Left,Right? If so, The three positions available are: A12,B12 - A23,B23 - A34,B34. A12 means pins 1 and 2 of pole A are shorted by the switch in this...

CLK routing Switch Question. Can it be done?

I've got a 2P3T slide switch to take a clock to one of two destinations. Simple SPDT problem and answer. D1-OFF-D2 But I'd like to add a *single* PCB 2 pin shorting jumper and turn the middle switch position into BOTH. Like this. D1-BOTH-D2 Ending up with the option to choose OFF *or* BOTH for the m...

Re: VCAs with 2 (or more) CV inputs - discussion

:agree: With both Synthacon and Dave Peck. As DP says, it's essentially the same as having a 2 -or more- input unity mixer for CV built in. Anything which falls into that category becomes reason enough. Classic modules had three CV jacks and I tend to think of those as root, ofset and modifier. Part...
