Re: SynthTech E300 Ultra or Erica Synth Black Wavetable VCO?

IMO it’s more fun in the long run to use analog oscillators to design your sounds implementing FM, wavefolders, filters, and distortion I agree with you a zillion percent. The E300’s beautiful FM and could be a part of this approach, but it needs some other pieces to make sense in that context. A u...

Re: Behringer Pro 800, Prophet 600 clone

I was listening to a track I did in the 90's with my 600. I think it sounds pretty cool. Ok, not P-5 cool, but cool still. The poly mod section was my first exposure to audio rate modulation, and I fell in love. Mine's memory was mostly filled with trippy weird sounds that were little more than text...

Re: Archangel

I suggest asking Det3 if you can buy the used one and send it to him to swap the jacks out. Waiting for a small manufacturer with a day job to restart production of a product feels like a potential multi-year proposition. It also seems quite possible they might never be made again. No insider info, ...

Behringer Pro 800, Prophet 600 clone

Stumbled onto this on fb. Some of the stuff they are doing is really fun. The Prophet 600 is such an underated gem of a poly. The original is still a steal at $1500-ish in my opinion, but the membrane interface looks cute like the 500 series AMS RMX16 and similarly kind of makes me want this module ...

Re: How many "voices" do you have in your modular?

In my 6U, only 1 traditional voice, but if I was really streeeeeetching: MI Ears, Spring Reverb (physical manipulation, feedback, and fun power supply hum), Magneto (self-oscillation), Modcan Delay (self-oscillation), Cyclic Skew and 2 x Lightstrips for rough audio rate LFO, up to 16 simultaneous sa...

I don't know about 4 channels in 2-3U, but the Moon 543CP is a pretty cool if a CP panel is an option for you. Or get a custom panel and mount it sideways in 3U. :hyper: I like it better than the beautiful but massive 543. http://www.lunar-experience.com/images/543_cp_1200-567.jpg http://www.lunar-e...

Re: Live improv performance modules

I get a lot out of a couple of Soundmachine LS-1’s and Mutable Ears for control. I usually use 1010 bitbox/toolbox into a Magneto and Modcan Dual Delay for drums or ambient textures, and then work with a few modules for a lead sound. That’s about the amount of stuff I can get my head around in a liv...

My guy got back to me today, and said he now expects it for March. Couldn’t tell me if it was early or late March..... sad They have little idea beyond guessing, I think. My order is with Sweetwater, and their line was 'March but expect it might get pushed back'. I'm feeling pretty patient about it...

Re: Korg Arp 2600 Arrival Date

Say Sam Ash got 50 units and took prepaid preorders for $4300. $215000 extra in their accounts. Yay! But interest rates are so low, and those funds need to remain fluid. So, their bank account yields 1.xx% interest or a money market account gets around 2%. On the high end, that's $358 a month. I'd g...

Re: Biggest reasons you sell your gear?

I enjoy trying different gear. I’ve swapped out whole systems to try others, sold a bunch of modules to go on a vintage binge, etc. I enjoy using something for awhile and then trying something new. I also just enjoy selling things. It’s fun to purge and have a little pot of money to buy more things.

Re: If you could only have one...

Some other favorites coming in over the price limit makes this easier, so my pick would be the Minimoog reissue. Inspiring to play and always sounds good. I've been recording whole tracks with mine recently then going back to revoice the parts (or not). Stuff just spills out when playing it and blen...

Re: Behringer System 55

Until I hear something that sounds better, I’d suggest buying a set of basic Dotcom modules over these. Most of their basics are also about $50-100, except for the vco ($200) and filters ($130-180), the system sounds better, and you gain the true advantage of the Moog format, a spacious, playable in...

I'm really hoping I don't get a similar email. I got in on the first morning of release and it was a couple of days later that it changed to "Sold Out" on the site. I'm losing sleep again.
Don't fret. I'm so confident they will make more that I will sell you mine. For $8,500.

All of what you said leaves it that ARP is legitimate again and already being pillaged.

It wouldn’t stun me for 10 or more people on the Sweetwater waitlist to get a spot. They don’t charge your card until it ships, so there are a couple of months for real life to happen to a few people, for a few people to opt for the cheaper Behringer, or for a few people’s spouses to hear about what...

It is easily explained how Guitar Center got those pics and also why they don't necessarily represent any upcoming product. This of course does not mean Korg can't change their mind. But as of now, they have no plans for a mini. Would you care to share the easy explanation? It seems quite plausible...

Not all of us want to cosplay 70s prog rock.
As someone with a Synthi reissue, a Minimoog reissue, a big 5U system, and a Korg 2600 on order, I found that really funny.

I’m not actually much of a prog fan, but I do still wish I had a cape like Rick Wakeman. If the shoe sorta fits . . .

Re: Behringer 2600

The form factor kind of sucks. You can really rack mount it because of all the jacks on the top back, so it's one of these open frames that hog lots of desk space. Some one will come up with custom stands I bet. The only jacks on the back are midi, power, and two footswitches. Seem like common thin...
