The new one doesn't have plastic frets between the keys and has additional grounding. The frets are the old school style and provide some nice tactile feedback, so you might actually prefer your version.

Re: Buchla USA 2018 model - issues?

Hey, I’m about to buy a buchla USA 2018 model and I am wondering about the 218 keyboard on that one. I’ve seen that they updated it during 2019. Are there any issues I should be aware of? And also should it say “buchla electronic musical instruments” on the front lower right corner? Even though it’...

I like using them to create envelopes from other sources. Voice, as mentioned above, or anything else you can mic. Rain, etc, or a popcorn maker in a classic Don Buchla example. My personal favorite was creating a pretty eternal modulation shape using a guitar as an input. Left to themselves, guitar...

Just got mine brand new for $223 out the door https://reverb.com/item/13831117-behringer-neutron It's conflicting because I disliked it so much myself*, but at that price--$210 on your link :woah: and one day soon $150 used?--it is almost the only reasonable starting point to recommend. I’ve fallen into that sort of pattern many times in my life (could be as superficial as the “right” luggage) and slowly come to realize it’s some form of OCD. Thread drift, but I obsess over having the perfect luggage. I don't think it is OCD, it's from the ridiculous amount of travelling I do and ...

While I commented above that it will work fine, I'd feel remiss if I didn't mention that despite having used several Mackie's and despite them being very popular, the single biggest improvement I've ever experienced with my set up was when I upgraded to a higher end mixer. I didn't even perceive a ...

yes, they (looper recordings) are lost upon power off, yet all midi assignments are saved. so best to prep a recorder if you're not merely performing live. We believe this will gently push some of you to commit (record-making there and then) while keeping you on your toes when performing live, just...

Well, I already realized that you can—I guess I was more interested in hearing from people who aren’t constrained by their finances and if they would be likely satisfied with such a system. Yes, absolutely. A system comprised of simpler, less expensive modules would be completely awesome. Probably ...

I haven’t had a computer in years, and am somehow more intimidated by the bitbox than all the other modules I have no experience with, probably wrongly so. It just appears as the opposite of immediate. I'm a bit of an idiot with menus, and I find the basic functionality of the bitbox to be very str...

If you want a proper front side Midi to CV, get a MUC-810 from Anthony. That one runs circles around the 225e. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8KqcJvCJvo Then again, i like my 225e just fine using the internal midi bus for the DPO and the 261e. Thanks for raising the issue. Timely for me . . . I'v...

Starting when I first got back in to synths 10 or 15 years ago, I went nuts on eBay and bought a Wavestation A/D, Xpander, SEM, Prophet VS, Prophet VS rack (had to have a back up), Yamaha TX816, TG33, Ensoniq DP/4 Synthi, Serge, etc, along with Buchla and other new modular, Minimo...

Very cool mod. If these desks were still available, I'd be looking at this pretty closely. I'm also moving house soon and will have a smaller studio space, at least temporarily. I'd love to find a similar sliding shelf solution.

You are right of course, but I'm dwelling on this because the communication aspect interests me. A case study of poor messaging, I think. Any advantage other than the Buchla endorsement? Something conceived as a system vs. multiple builders, consistent design, presumable retail availability, support. Can’t speak to the 100 but all of the 200 clone builds are not of the same quality. Hopefully they differentiate prebuilt vs diy somehow.

Polyfusion is a Buffalo company? Moog Music was too (for a fair part of their first heyday). Buffalo is a big part of keyboard history (also Wurlitzer was there). The story goes that Polyfusion was started by a couple of Moog engineers who supposedly quit and went out on their own after their propo...

Keeping me on the edge of my seat now. Don might never have done this, but it is a logical direction for Buchla USA, I think. Honor a legacy and meet obvious demand for the classic lines. If all they ever did was offer the 100 and 200 series and perhaps refine 200e, that would be an amazin...
