Ok this just in for regular gigging and recording musicians, or married musicians, like me vs the FS drool worthy version for highly paid accountants still living with mum. https://www.synthanatomy.com/2020/01/korg-arp-2600-mini-photos-from-guitar-center-show-a-smaller-version-leak.html/korg-arp-26...

I feel like you should send that Box11 pic to Roger. That case style is awesome. Could you measure the dimensions of the storage space? I love the planets panels, too. Cool system.

Re: Does Serge make sense for Noob?

Serge has a more fundamental approach, in which you will mostly build up your blips and bloops and patterns from fairly basic components. Arguably, this is a better learning approach than buying the latest multi-function Euro gizmo that makes pretty digital noises. A few of the Serge modules (SSG, D...

Re: When did you realize you were a modular aficionado?

When I realized not everyone follows when people reference modules by their model numbers in discussions. It turns out you are a cut above in nerdiness if you automatically know what a Doepfer A-138 is, and so on.

That Gorilla is a bit deeper than I might like, but all that foam is a nice plus for shock absorption.

That Roadready case looks good, too. Not sure of its depth:

Woah, was there any hint in the video of the timeframe for these dropping? For £3500, I'm down for sure. I'm dying for a US site to take my preorder so this can feel real to me. :hyper:

Re: Case Recommendations for Serge Systems

I picked up an Animoo and am hoping to add a TKB soon. Does anyone have a fresh take on cases for Serge? I'd love something fitted like the STS M-Case, though perhaps something a little more durable. The 8U Flightcase Warehouse case looks cool, too, but I wonder if anyone knows a supplier of somethi...

Re: Any 5U showing at NAMM 2019?

At Superbooth last year one 5U manufacturer (COTK? Moon? I honestly can't recall) was in their own room surrounded by busts of Yuri Gagarin and other space paraphernalia. Truly the sort of space (heh) I'd want to demo my instruments in, particularly since it wasn't shared with any other manufacture...

Re: Any 5U showing at NAMM 2019?

Competing for space and volume against Gibson, Zildjian, Fender, or DW sounds like hell on Earth. It's not so bad. The synth manufacturers are largely together, and synths lend themselves well to headphone demos. I've gotten a lot of quality time in demoing synths at NAMM. And demoing guitars, peda...

Re: Behringer - Introducing the CAT Synthesizer

Behringer must love the repetitive arguments that keep mentions of their products at the top of the page of every synth forum. They should hire shills to keep stirring the pot, if they don’t already. #guerrillamarketing

Re: Eurorack, next to 5U?

I have both a Euro and 5u system, and of course they work well (enough) together. If your 5U is completely in a 22u case, however, I might give it a hard look and decide if what you have in it is truly unique and irreplaceable in Euro. If you got into the Euro flow, it’s functionality could possibly...

No, that Maine studio tour is great, but they are referring to some short 'demo' videos he did for specific vintage synths that I think mostly contained wisecracks along with a technical tidbit or two.

That sounds like possibly a quite fun pair on their own? I'm too daft to keep Morphagene's combos straight in my head, but a unique sound source + Magneto sounds like a quirky ambient set waiting to happen.

One advantage of 5U that I don’t think has been mentioned yet is that switching 1/4” jacks are often incorporated in module designs or modifications for useful normalization options. To the question of the STG Sea Devils Filter sounding different across formats, I doubt there is any meaningful sonic...

I used to have a Buchla 100 module in my 200e case. It was just a noise module, which added almost nothing to my system and had a panel so bare it was practically like having a blank in my case. I eventually sold it to make better use of the space, but I miss its scuffed-up vintage charm. :waah:

Echoing several others, the Q107 and STG Sea Devils stand out among the many 5U filters I've used. Moon 517 is interesting as well, though its UI feels a little wonky, making me stop short of calling it a favorite.

Buchla 200e. The whole line feels like a QC disaster and has been a buggy work-in-progress for over a decade now, and there are arguably better designed versions of its classic circuits in Euro for hundreds less, but it is lovely for what it wants to do, plus or minus some vactrol bleed. W...
