This has been out more than a year. I'm a huge fan of the Harmonic Oscillator so the design of this is really appealing to me. At the same time, I'm wondering if for sound design purposes it might be a bit too clean / "boring" when you are not feeding it very harmonically rich material. I'd like to ...

in my experience DFP responds well to loud signals. I often use a little amplification from something like Gozinta in the chain prior to DFP

I've seen people say that having two snake-mode channels is somehow limiting. But when you factor in the function page options, plus gate and CV mod for each of these channels, plus Z axis, even one of the snake-mode channels alone is more powerful and flexible than any other Euro sequencer I have u...

Looks great! I also have the same case without the 1u rail. They are great but also a bit big to carry around when gigging often. I was just thinking going to a 12u 84hp folding case... but these MDLR cases are Really sturdy and are looking amazing! thanks! yeah, it's not the lightest. but i'm a bi...

Thanks for the tip! I think the manual could be a little more clear about this with step by step instructions, like "how to create a new state" "how to copy a state" etc. All the info is there, but the way it's explained is a little opaque and I'm still kind of fuzzy on some of it. Ok...very basic, ...

Ok...very basic, dumb question (I've read the whole manual & watched the videos and still can't figure this out, sorry): I know how to save the default state (as outlined in the front of the manual). So I start out in the default state and I make a bunch of changes. How do I save this as a new state?

So many people own a Rene that it might take people a while to decide whether or not they want to replace it. When I first started modular, after a long debate I finally bought a Metropolis, thinking I would wait and see if a new version of Rene was released. So of course I pre-ordered as quickly as...

just found out about this yesterday and already ordered one to replace my mk2. I never expected to replace the mk2 but this is an astonishing update. Morph discontinuity modulation, in my experience, was better in theory than practice so I don't think I'll miss it. The lack of LFO setting is too bad...

I think the hiss on the gamalan sample is a result of the incoming audio being too quiet. Morphagene is really boosting the signal to compensate, hence the noise. So far I've been feeding it normalized samples at rack level and had no noise whatsoever. I turned on my rack and audio leveled with play...

agree with REVIVER's review. the clicky encoder knob means that you really can fill a card and still locate / use smaller groups of samples. The pitch shifting sounds fantastic. Did not expect the module to sound this clean, especially pitched down at 16bit 48khz My only issue at this point is that ...

Tyme Sefari 2 and maybe Zorlon Cannon 2

so many great designers, but in terms of thinking differently about modular design, Scott Jaeger is pretty far out.

Quick test last night: piano samples in ONE sequenced and sent into Clouds: https://soundcloud.com/timelovr/crude-piano-test You hear the wet sound first and then the sequence kind of fades in. (Ultimately I did have to use a trigger delay in file select mode. I used the end of rise out from a maths...

I've had mine out of the case for a while. might be time to put it back in.

I love the distortion you can get with the input gain, but I wish either you could VC it or that the output stage clipped/distorted a bit at full volume.

I have a question about the "File" CV mode. Should I expect that a new file will be played for each note of a sequencer? I tried sending a BSP v/o cv out to the CV and it definitely didn't do this. I get a new file every 3 or 4 notes but it's a little inconsistent some times the same note will play...

I spent about three hours with this thing yesterday and I love it. Sounds fantastic, very responsive and clean. I'm looking forward to preparing some 24 bit, 96khz samples for slow-motion sounds. Sounds on the included card are pretty great too. If there's a firmware update, I would like to see a mo...

Reading the manual now. Is there another editor aside from Audacity that works for preparing 24 bit samples? Will Logic work?

Excited for this.

never intended to use much (or any) sampling when I started my modular, but these days I use Tyme Sefari ii and Clouds all the time. I held off on Phonogene because I wanted longer sampling time with the features that it offered. Pre-ordered Morphagene and will probably add a Tiptop One as well. Tha...

I've had Rings for a few weeks now and really enjoying it. I can get a wider range of sounds than I expected. One caveat is the brightness and damping controls. For most applications, they are only useful from about noon to 3. Before noon, the decay is close to zero. When both are set around 9, the ...

Consider a Polaris instead of the Korgasmatron. You don't really need a dual with this setup, and the Polaris gives you a wider range of sounds. Korgasmatron really shines when patched in series / parallel. It's an amazing filter. Don't be quick to ditch it. It's absolutely a great filter, but in a...

Consider a Polaris instead of the Korgasmatron. You don't really need a dual with this setup, and the Polaris gives you a wider range of sounds. I haven't used the Malekko vca, but would also consider the Intellijel, which can fade from linear to expo (though it lacks the mix output). Technically, y...

There's a lot of chatter about the difference between one analog saw and another, one sine and another. Unless you're doing really quiet, minimal work, in most cases after the track is mixed, you're not going to be able to identify by the sound of a raw wave what osc was used. There is much more of ...
