yeah - never thought about the ld3 when I posed the question, probably because my first thought wasn't to play back audio without any processing on this thing. But it works great.

Like an expert sleepers disting for example.
don't really have anything. that's why I asked. (but - hmmmm - i think my gotharman might do it, actually.)

audio to update firmware/cheap device?

I have a couple of devices that update by playing a .wav file. Whenever I've tried this method, it's worked....but I find the process somewhat of a disincentive to upgrade sometimes - i have to crawl awkwardly to grab an output from my interface, etc, and so I'll usually think of some way to avoid t...

i think that most people would want to set up the knobs for modulation, whereas I had thought of a screen where you had settings that were mostly involved with setup. Like on the polyspaze, where the vca goes to, etc, etc. basically just some way of quickly calling up various settings and routings ...

i'm tempted by this. The wait is pretty long, but the initial deposit is relatively small....and the rest of it should come after I have recovered for taxes. I read the quantum manual, and was dissuaded because it looked like a traditional synth approach with some granular added on. Not that it woul...

i've had a chance to try out a manther. just got it today. this is one of the funnest boxes I've ever used. I don't care about any sync issues that may or may not exist - so I can't comment on any of that. the oscillators + filter + delay sound really good. but the sequencer and the other elements o...

note that my point wasn't at all to complain about the interface or complexities of his instruments, but to pose a possible feature that others may or may not like. i think that the ui of gotharman machines is far, far better than the octatrack, where Elektron seemed to place so many functions and p...

I will post this in the ld3 thread, though I think that it applies probably to all of his instruments....(i do have an ld3 coming in a few days, and it will likely be the machine i use most heavily, so it kind of makes sense to post it here). I was having a session with the polyspaze, and struggling...

One of the features I most enjoy on the Cirklon is its ability to borrow notes from another track. This way I can set a muted track to play a set of notes randomly and on the main track I can choose which steps borrow the note info from the previous track (or from any track I want). It's a great wa...

Sounds to me like you might want to take a look at a Cirklon. It's quite expensive and there's a long waiting list, but sounds like it would suit your needs very well. I had one a few years back, and while I thought it was very powerful, its workflow just wasn't for me - I can tell by just having u...

you jump to a lot of conclusions, yet you haven't used one. I'm not finding the layout to be a problem, though I imagine that if the unit were twice the size, and probably twice the $$, the interface could be less menu driven. I didn't say that it "just causes frustration". I said that the initial l...

having looked through this whole thread, i'm now considering a pyramid, but watching videos of it, it's just mostly folks making crappy techno on it, no videos or music tracks making berlin school kinda stuff with it. be nice if squarp put step skip function on it, probably the chance fx is near to...

lol - figured one would be useful now, for various reasons, so found a nice v2 on reverb. it arrived today, and I'm reminded about how awful the docs are. I've been trying to figure out how to actually output midi and have failed miserably. Entering from step mode, notes seem to be there, but....not...

but the Schrittmacher is one of my favorite sequencers. I eventually sold it because I just don't have enough MIDI gear, but if you're looking for an improvised performance sequencer, I think it's hard to beat. it's quite expensive though, just a few hundred bucks cheaper than a cirklon. And you ca...

Re: Manikin Schrittmacher or Squarp Pyramid

as i recall, the schrittmacher has not ability to save a playlist of multiple sequences played separately. You can only queue them up 'live'. had not heard that the engine has been discontinued. You've verified that? you're right that there there is no real harm in people just ranting in a gear foru...
