this, I believe, is chiseled out of his forthcoming modular softsynth, whose name I can't recall at the moment. It needs a fast computer to run it - my g5 quad wasn't up to the task.

That, and his new modular softsynth use up MUCH more processing power than zebra. I tried them both out on my g5 quad, and they are not really viable here.

btw, dkcg - did you ever get OSC working? It was my impression that, while the connection is there now, the functionality will require the next software update? I'd like to know this, since (well, actually, it's supposed to be a secret) I have one application that I'd like to use this with, but this...

Heard back from Josh that he spoke to Jeffry about this, and that he will fix this in the next update. ok - I think that the only other owner of one of these is dkcg? In any case, mine arrived a couple of days ago, and I'm refamiliarizing myself with it. The interface is indeed infuriating, but the ...

Its a brave atempt from this brand to offer a sequencer with creative features, the problem here is the interface that blocks completely your creative flow. Well, I don't find that it breaks my creative flow, but definitely it is not a sequencer that you can improvise on as if it's an instrument. On...

yeah - I find it to be a total pain - I had Josh test it out, and he confirmed it. Of course, you can always change ALL note lengths on the MAPS to sync it up, but if you have multiple sequences going, that's a big pain. I'm really hoping that he can fix this in the next software version - Josh seem...

My double Lexington case should be filled up pretty soon....

Then comes the usual dilemma - if I want to expand the system, do I spend a huge amount on a case (cases) first? That's always kind of a disincentive unless I have a big chunk of change to spend at one time.

Don't think that Numerology can do sequential switching of audio sources, can it? Or do it with control signals with ease? For example, with the Doepfer a-155, I can use the inputs to put in an audio source at every step - this is very cool (playing the audio out the cv out). OR, you can combine the...

Still not sure what you're referring to as audio rate sequencing - I'm not referring to the actual synths making the sounds with control signals coming in at that rate - for analog sequencing, you're talking about the cv going so fast that you can use them as audio, and can manipulate the waveforms ...

don't want to do the math, but I'm not sure that 256th notes at a fast tempo is nearly as fast as clocking an analog sequencer with an oscillator, for instance. I've never heard of anyone getting true audio rate sequencing from a midi sequencer, but maybe I'm wrong. And plus - how exactly would you ...

Absolutely - it's true that if working on a computer sequencer inspires you as much, it's crazy to spend that much on hardware sequencers. There is stuff the Numerology can't do, or can't do well, though. for instance, you're never going to do audio rate sequencing on it. And you're not going to hav...

I have no problem with people touting Numerology - I do myself in other contexts. I think that compare its 'value' per $ with hardware sequencers is totally silly. I also think that anyone who is very familiar with analog step sequencers and midi step sequencers built along those lines, who also use...

Re: 5 Unit Hardware Sequencers VS. Numerology

??? Is that really even under contention? I've probably used more hardware and software step sequencers than should be permitted in one lifetime - but of course, a powerful computer software program is going to be more powerful $ for $ than a hardware one. Hardware step sequencers are very expensive...

way late for work, and don't have time to check right now - but I think that there might be a setting(?). You can grab the manual online, and probably get to the answer before me.

I thought that it was very flexible and sounded great. I also think that the Sherman is very flexible and sounds great, but very different....

The thing that drove me crazy about the Sherman were all of the patch points being in back of the unit.
