Jarno wrote: That looks awesome! But why not just use european oak?
I originally ordered the wood in Mahogany (Sapele), but due to a stupid mistake I made in the order, White Oak was supplied, so I just made do with what I received. But I'm very happy with the Teak Oil finish.

Sadly not... Sometimes I'm so involved in getting a job done that I forget to take pics.

This is the closest I've got:

Hey Broadwave that Synth is looking sweet and I prefered either the linseed oil but liked most the teak oil if that was the farthest right in the pic, it seemed to bring out the grain somewhat. I went for a Teak Oil finish - Definitely brings out the grain There are only 10 switches on the front of...

Congratulations Julien! Hey Broadwave how did you fabricate the metal box part of the synthesizer. Possibly something like this bad boy. Just bought one myself but didn't realise until I went to collect it that it weighs in at 123kg. Good job I have a strong workbench, and neighbour to help me lift...

Almost there - I've been a bit distracted by the Behringer D, which arrived a while ago. I've just got to build and wire up the remainder of the left panel. The cabinet needs to be sanded and a few coats of Teak oil applied to complete the job. I've ordered a bunch of Cut to Size MDF and iron-on Wal...

have you a reference for a good bus board in DIY or PCB....?
I've always used FR4 Tinned 0.1 stripboard as a power bus - Never had a problem, and it's also excruciatingly cheap.

@ Broadwave I'm so glad you put me onto that Timber yard, it turns out its only up the road from me, well 10 miles but hey its a big road. What a brilliant place, I was looking for for timber yards a few months ago and never found that site, strange. Anyway I cant wait to see you Synthesizer when i...

I have a question about Q75 and Q85 what is a single matched transistor a 2n3906 and a 2n3904 respectively. Does the Q75 2n3906 have to be matched to th Q76 MPS8097 and the Q85 2n3904 with Q86 2n3392 Don't bother trying to match the exponential pair (GASP!). I've lost count of self builds and repai...

I have this weird desire to get a 2-octave MIDI controller keyboard, take all the guts out, stick them into a wooden case and mount the BMD in there to look like a little Minimoog. Two octaves will annoy the hell out of you after a while. Go the whole hog and make it look like a BIG Minimoog :hihi:...

I've been messing around with mine for a few days now. What do I think? Build quality is good, maybe even better than the SE-02. There's no wobbly pots and you can rotate the Wave/Footage switches without the unit twisting off your desk. I'm thinking about getting one of these to use alongside my Re...

I'm really interested in building one! How would you rate the difficulty level? Previously I built 2x re-303, 1x SY-1 Clone, 1x . I have no SMD soldering experience though. I had no real SMD experience before I built this, so I think you'll be OK - The voltage regulators aren't so bad to solder, bu...

Agghhh... So many questions! @Kipling - The mod wheels. Unfortunately I don't have any drawings as I tend to work on the fly quite a bit, but the mod wheel is just fed from 10v via a trimmer directly into the Mod-Mix (IC15a via R364) The pitchbend is done the same way but with an op-amp to shift the...

Hallelujah! The wood for the cabinet has finally arrived... except it isn't the Sapele that I wanted  I THINK it's white oak, but I'm not sure. I'll carry on and build it to see what the finish looks like. I could always stain it if I'm not happy. Here's hoping dowel joints will keep it togeth...

And the mod/pitch wheels? Doepfer perhaps? Honestly, I have absolutely no idea where they came from, but they're hard rubber not plastic - they just happen to be in my magic box of bits  The Sapele Mahogany for the cabinet is due this week, I think it'll look much better than a tolexed lump o...

bemerritt wrote: Where did you get that panel and what keyboard are you using? looks great!
The panel is from http://www.sintetizadores.com.ar/en/

The keybed is from an old CME M-Key (cheap, but semi weighted and feels good under the fingers), cut down to 44 keys, and put through a MIDI>CV converter

Do you see VCO-3 waveform on TP-10 when you turn the pot "Mod-Mix" on the "O" position ? Yes I do. And if I turn Mod-Mix full CCW, "noise" gets added to the waveform, at least it looks like that. Have you definitely turned the MOD MIX pot up to 10 - TP11 is after the mod-mix VCA and needs a voltage...

Just the wiring to do, A440/Headphone board to make and build the cabinet (still waiting for the Sapele wood order to arrive). The panel PCBs are a bit messier that I'd like, I'm just using up scraps but it saves an awful lot of interconnecting. The original "V1" control board, with the error, is no...

Well, everything is up and running, but I've got a bit of a problem with the VCA envelope... Sustain is working OK, but the Decay is acting more like attack, and the attack is doing nothing. For some reason this behavior rings a bell, but I'm not sure where from. Any help/pointers would be appreciat...

I have enough 20 Ohm and 2 kOhm as a substitude, but I don't know if I can use them? And: Has anyone another source for the trimmers? I can’t comment on the suitability of 20 or 2k trimmers without knowing what they do or where they are in the circuit. There's one 25R trimmer for balance 1 of the V...
