Re: Help making DIY patch cables and attenuators

I agree with Nigel. I love making modules but hate soldering cables. I only say that so you don't get discouraged if you find cables to be a pain. For attenuators you can use the bom and schematic for my ai010. https://aisynthesis.com/product/eurorack-attenuator/

https://aisynthesis.com/how-to-store-diy-synth-parts/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiu_p54YSo0&feature=youtu.be I don’t actually hate parts bins, I just don’t use them. Re: best kits and pcb's on modularaddict?

I don't think there's really a "best". It will always depend on what you're after. AI Synthesis is very beginner-friendly and also well-designed, in my experience. His new quad VCA or the matrix mixer would be useful in almost any system. I'm a big fan of the looping ADSR. NLC stuff is great but it...

Totally depends on the person.
I like my Hermod/oberkorn combo because it allows me to do both.

Re: Not putting markings around knobs on modules...

Is annoying! Even if the knob value is often somewhat different from where the dial is due to external CVs causing offsets etc, markings around knobs/dials is still useful for a reference point when you;re wiggling and want to go back to a set point. I've taken to drawing on my own on some modules ...

Re: New Quad VCA Voltage Controlled Mixer you can build if you want.

You're always coming out with great stuff, man. I was banging my head against the wall the other day trying to figure out if I could somehow fit your matrix mixer in my case, and now this. The adjustable curve response is a neat feature, and distinguishes this from the L-1 quad vca/mixer, which I q...

Re: Bug first diy eurorack passive multiple

Hi all ! I have a problem with my first multiple editing. ( ai synthesis ) I haven’t buy the pcb . My jack 1 input doesn’t come out in 2,3,4 unless if input 5 is plugged in at the same time (even if there is no source at input 5 ..) I unsolder tab 2 of jack 5. Now input 1 works well and that gives ...

New Quad VCA Voltage Controlled Mixer you can build if you want.

This feels weird. I am not in a promotional, capitalist mood, but I have been working on a quad vca design for ~6 months, and now it is out so I will let you know about it. I will also post some things that I find useful in this difficult time that you can get from your local library for free digita...

Eurorack is definitely not the choice for mastering. Mostly unshielded circuits, a jumble of wiring inside, inferior supply voltages, except for some dedicated I/O modules no symmetric connections, and the constant need to adapt signal levels to studio or broadcast standards, too...

I use my https://aisynthesis.com/product/eurorack-attenuator/ for these duties and for other attenuating, especially for my digital oscillators that don't have them.

It's a simple 2.5 switching attenuator in 2HP.

What PCB fabs are up and running

My re-ups are on the way, but I'm hoping to print some prototypes, and my go to fabs are still delayed from their normal turnaround.
Are there any fabs up in Thailand or elsewhere that makes affordable PCBs?

https://aisynthesis.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/AI010-Eurorack-Attenuator.jpg You can copy my schematic if you like. The ai010 is a switching dual attenuator in 2hp. Are you going direct to stomp or using an adapter to match levels? I find there is a night and day difference between the two. Here is a demo of mine: https://youtu.be/IXizOs8ySqw I would mult the delay repeat out, one clean and one distorted, and use a crossfader module or pair of vcas to control t...

Re: AI Synthesis PSU questions

Also, I'm not sure if pumping more amps into the PSU will damage it, can anyone speculate whether pairing this wall wart with it will be problematic? You don't really pump amps in. It's better to think of it as a circuit draws amps out. So if you hook up a 15A supply to the AI PSU, and then only ho...

Re: Gate delay devices - why so few and unavailable?

This can also be done easily with vanilla modules that you may already own - just think like a modular. All you need is your gate to be multed in order to trigger a separate ADSR ("DELAY ADSR") in between the gate and what you want to trigger, like another ADSR ("MODULATION ADSR"). By adjusting atta...

Re: Ableton to Eurorack

There are a lot of ways to do this. My approach is really simple. I have a hermod in the rack, and a midi cable sitting nearby. Sometimes I just sequence from that and record that direct to ableton via apollo and worry about matching up later (It's not that hard). Sometimes I slave hermod from Ablet...

Re: Parallel mixing multiple Fx on an audio source

Have you looked at Matrix Mixing? That could be a great way to 1) Add buffers, and 2) Allow for extremely flexible routing, including feedback. I make the AI008 Matrix Mixer, but it is only a 4in, 3 out with Mix. I suppose if you used 2, you could have a stereo with 4 ins.... but you have a ton of p...
