But this notion of "software synths offer no tactile response" is a twenty year old stance that is no longer the truth. : I think everyone was discussing it in a simplified form, which most of us understood, and you've chosen to attack the simplified version of the discussion. I have a Softube Cons...

The assumptions are not false, they are simplifications made to clarify the argument. Exactly. Most hardware is MORE tactile (hands on). It is a given that there are some hardware controllers for software, and there are some synths with limited controls. But as a general rule for me, moving multipl...

Yes, moving several things at once (knobs, sliders etc). There are more and more hardware controllers for software, but still, hardware outboard and synths can be more tac tile and immediate. The big thing for me is variability and happy accidents. Every aspect of software has to be designed by some...

No one has yet mentioned the different workflow - which is a MAJOR factor in Buchla vs Eurobuchla. While true, we're talking here specifically about the LEM4... IMO that system feels like a gimmick to be able to hook a little Buchla up to your Eurorack, just to say you've got some Buchla. It became...

Yes, it reminds me very much of the old Arp education systems. Basic and simple modular building blocks. You sometimes see them on Ebay :75:

I have a problem with my Muxlicer. I use it for kick and snare. sometime I've got a single trigger but most times there was a double trigger. Same here. Seems like a bizarre issue. No matter what I do, there is a ghost (or often louder) trigger after the trigger I've selected. This is a factory mad...

Separation of audio and voltage is important and changes the way you create sounds.
For me that's a reason to prefer Buchla to Eurobuchla - plus it is less fiddly.

A distortion module, a comb filter, a regular multi-mode filter.....
I wouldn't choose Echophon personally.

A custom panel I sold about ten years ago is currently on Ebay USA. It contains what I consider to be the best of Serge. Soon afterwards STS stopped offering custom panels, so these odd combo panels are hard to find. I had two racks of Modern A too. Also very nice. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Serge-M...

Separately, I was really hoping they were going to reissue the 100 series in Buchla format, perhaps there's still a chance of that happening. Absolutely bang on :yay: My first thought exactly. I have no interest in the 'e' series, but some of these more raw modules in current Buchla format would be...

They hark back to some of the first commercial synthesisers.
EMS had speakers and touchplate keyboards, as does my CBS Buchla system. Arp 2600 had speakers.

Not cheap? $29 to $100 per module.
Also, in the Sonic State video they mention the 400 Series first run is already built and sold out in one day. So I expect those deliveries to happen within the four weeks.

I have had quite a few and still have many. Not many have that 'dynamics control' IMO. That's all I suggested.
It's a great feature when they do.

Oh OK, probably right. Many of my VCAs are unmarked as to what they are )(exp/lin). I will have to check, or see if I need yet another VCA.

Also, an output labeled ”velocity” would be nonsensical What about an input, especially (probably exclusively) on modules with internal VCAs, or percussive focused modules. The 'velocity' aspect of DFAM is some of the best I've heard in modular. You actually don't often hear variable velocity in mo...

The whole point the anti-velocity crowd is trying to make is that you don't need an input or output labeled "VELOCITY" to get velocity-like effects on a modular. It can be done with a little bit of patching of a couple functions that any well-balanced system should have plenty to spare. ( BIG HINT ...

My point was that you dont punch or press something therefor no reason to call it velocity, We're talking about music here, and velocity has become a musically useful term. It seems highly pedantic to suggest you can't have an element of velocity on a percussive module, unless it's being programmed...

I don't see how "velocity" is relevant since you have other means of expression  Velocity adds life to any part, especially percussive parts. Your definition of keyboard feature is only half of the story. Velocity is actually a feature of real instruments as it's impossible for a human to pla...

Funny how the thread centered on sequencers. When I saw the thread title I was thinking, yeah velocity IS undervalued in Eurorack. I use cv to control velocity using a VCA all the time, but I have to say it's often a fiddly business. It seems to me like some VCAs have too broad a range of voltage sc...

Using the Roland system with Reaktor blocks or a regular Euro sequencer is fine, so I'm not inclined to adjust anything on the ba...
