Re: Seeking physical interaction modules

You sound like a Force Sensing Resistor guy. Drumsticks would be a bit much, but good for abusive presses and not much to screw up. Synthwerks makes some--and often chimes in on threads with like titles!--but when you say 'home brew', this seems up your alley. In general, I've found joysticks and So...

You’ve got a fun line brewing here, Doug. Feels like TONTO to have 5u Serge.

I keep coming back to this as one of my favorite spaces. It feels light and airy like sheer curtains caught in a breeze. I would be interested in a quad module that could replicate the 227e swirl function under CV or joystick control.

Weird, the matrix lights were visible in most of the things I’ve seen, I thought. Do they go to sleep or something?

Re: SSL Serge USG - NOW SHIPPING !!!

This is a significant point. Not to say the same circuit in a different format ain’t no good, but I would for sure expect to use them differently. in all seriousness though, speaking of bananas, one thing i've immediately discovered using Serge derived 5u modules is how much stackable banana cables ...

Re: SSL Serge USG - NOW SHIPPING !!!

It's an awesome module, and I get that you must be short on space, but surely it at least warrants a double panel for easier manipulation? The Euro slider version would mount sideways in 2U. Or I might at least pick a single row of dual concentric pots if it had to be 1U, to be able to get your fing...

Re: DUSG Lowpass gate ?

This must depend on how you define 'low pass gate'. The original circuit with that name was of course the Buchla model, so to me, LPG describes a circuit using a vactrol to gate its filter. It seems you and others might be using it to describe any gate with vactrol- like qualities in its response--i...

Re: Repanelling Doepfer into 5U

Read through the Doepfer website if you haven't. I'm pretty sure I once read that many of the modules will work fine with 15v power. I see where people are coming from with some of the negative advice, but half the fun of this stuff is irrationally making it your own, and Doepfer has tons of cool mo...

Re: Trapezoid?

Trapezoid knob attenuates the ‘trapezoid’ level that is sent to the matrix. In Synthi-speak, this is the envelope signal as you normally might think of it (cv), whereas the ‘envelope’ is really a vca with audio input and output which is controlled by the trapezoid.

This would be a bit of a dark horse choice, but I'm obsessed with the Cwejman VC-SC since picking it up recently. Currently available at Big City. Eurorack but with a 1/4" stereo input and outputs. It gives a nice crisp cohesion in regular settings and just a touch more radical with modulation. My u...

Re: Moving into 5U advice and questions

\ I wanted to like the Oakley Discontinuity, Synthesizers.Com Clipper... however, they don't tick my boxes. So I am inclined to agree that there is a hole in 5U as far as distortion goes. With those two, not really what they do, but I find feeding the Q107 back into itself and its hard clipping set...

Re: What's your recording chain?

I'm using a SSL X-Desk/X-Panda, into a Quantum 4848, recording with Logic. I have a couple of patchbays and a DB-25/TRS pass through for routing the DAW audio back out to my heretofore limited selection of outboard (SSL X-Rack preamps, 2 Joemeek optical compressors) or synths for processing. I like ...
